Im getting this super annoying squeek from the truck, it used to stop at 30 now it stops at 60-75

So far
it happens when
rolling
when stoping (brakes pressed)
turning
with the car in nuetral

So i surmise its somethign that rotates its not the engines or brakes since its independent of engine rpm and happens even while braking. It happens in neutral or in gear one two or three so i dont think its the tranny.

Aside from the squeek truck seem to drive fine, though it feels like its getting slower (or im getting used to it)

this is my 4th new car ive NEVER gone in for a warranty repair (theyve all been toyota on hondas) im so disappointed now. I hate going to dealers just a waste of a day.

If your truck is an AWD, check the front differential output shaft seals.

Good Luck.

Do you have an SS (I presume you do)? If so, what type (2WD, AWD)?

Now I know why sigs with vehicle info are good....

Update only when moving and it seems only after driving a while. I took about 30 minutes of driving for it to start. Its similar to a brake squeek but it happens even if I press the brakes.

Maybe it's the white jk .

mine is white and had the squeek took to dealer and went for test ride . Tech said backing plate was lose or bent . I don't know witch one though . I had the same issues only after driving for a while at highway speeds . I will get the repair sheet and update this post if different . my console sqeeks all the time anyone else ?

Sweet keep me updated.

could be the brake pads sensors they may squeek when braking also how many miles do you have. pull the wheels and check inner and outer pads front and rear. you may also want to pull the rear rotors to check parking brake :)

I have the same squeak. I thought it was the dust sheild on the brakes, checked that and its not touching. I guess ill be going in for service. Its really annoying.

when I got my springs installed (due to poor installation) the backing plate would touch the rotor and it sounded like banshees screaming.

Ah wind related hmm well it should have signs of rubbing then, cool.

So your saying the wind is causeing the backing plate to contact the rotor? Not saying wrong or anyting it possible. My backing plate are not touching. My noise seems to start at about 10mph and goes away at around 25mph. Truck also has to be driven alittle bit before it starts. Its driving me crazy, tomarrow at work im going to put it in the air and have a look around.

While rolling along, if the squeaking does not go away with application of the brakes, you have a Front Axle Seal squeal. If the squeak/squeal does go away, you have rear caliper shim squeak.

For Front Axle Seal squeal, the first thing for the dealership to do to fix the noise is to pull the axle halfshaft out and then carefully install it back in. Tell the mechanic to watch the seal lip so that it does not get bent under. That should eliminate the noise.

If this does not solve the problem, seal replacement will correct this issue.

Regards.

ludicrist, Front Axle Seal squeal is very sensitive to temperature and humidity. When taking a vehicle in for service, depending on where you live, the temperature inside and outside of the dealership can be very different making the noise go away for a time.

I've never heard of the backing plate making this noise. I'm not saying that it's impossible. But dealerships are not the best place to root cause noise issues. Dealerships really make little or no money to root cause. They get paid to replace/warranty parts.

Please let us know if it comes back. I could be wrong, but I suspect that the noise will return until the axle seal issue is addressed.

Regards.

double10x I agree with you. I sound like it could very well be that. I have not had the time to take my truck for service and im not messing with it while its under warranty.

Is your console still squeaking? If yes, lubricate the Console Lid Guide Pin with a clear, long lasting, non-odor causing lubricant. Super Lube with PTFE - Teflon is the best. The dealerships carry this lubricant. This Guide Pin is sometimes misaligned from the source and in time will squeak. If it's not that, it's the clips that hold the console to the floor. This is a little bit more of a deal to address. I hope it's the former vs. the latter issue.
