I'm looking to buy a scanner to read codes and wanted to know if anybody had suggestions as to what type make/model to buy. I have a 06', and I'm not looking for anything too fancy. Also, any suggestions as to what type of basic features I should be looking for? Thanks!

I have the Actron CP9135...good enough for what I need it for. It tells you the code description right on the unit instead of having to search for it in a book or online. I think I paid about 75 bucks for it on ebay a while back.

Actually saw about 4 or 5 diffrent ones at Sears in their tool department. Sorry to be so vague, but I remember one that was orange for about $80 that would read your codes and tell you what each one ment.

Thanks! I looked on eBay, looks to be pretty cheap

Yeah, I went to Sears, but they got a bunch of them. Just wasn't sure which one to get, and the price range varied also. I think I'll probably get the CP9135 since it seems to have the basic features I would want and is fairly cheap.

Thanks guys!

I used to have an Autotap Scanner (http://www.autotap.com) until I had the airbag light pop on in my old 2001 Bonneville. After that, I sold that and purchased an AutoEnginuity Scanner (http://www.autoenginuity.com) that could read the different modules on my vehicles plus has bi-directional controls. I am very happy with the AutoEnginuity scanner, but you must have a computer handy (laptop preferred) to use it. Gotta get the Enhanced GM package with it to be able to access all of the modules in your truck though.
