Did you check the TSB for the PCM reprogram by GM if you qualify?

For free:dielaugh::dielaugh::dielaugh: That was funny. The dealership will most likely charge you an hours fee for something that takes them a short amount of time to do. I know PCMforless posted about this TSB and what the Vin's are that have this problem. I'll see if I can track it down.

Here it is

I will be letting you all know by tomorrow afternoon if it's a warranty related issue or not(I am under the 3/36 until Sept. 26th)...I dropped off my TB at the dealer's tonight and showed the service mgr. a lot of relevant printed information on this re-flash as my VIN# falls into the category that Kelly was talking about in her thread...I am doing this to enable Alvin and his merry band an updated version of the flash needed to make my PCMfor less tune more "tune-friendly", and also due to the fact that I'm sending my original PCM to them to avoid a CASE re-learn...By the way, I figure while my baby's in for that, I would get the OnStar digital update done as well as the fixing of a very irritating vibrating mirror issue outside my driver's side door...We shall soon see how I fare....:undecided

Count yourself fortunate that you know about it. I had to take the bullet for that alert to surface... even though they knew about the problem, but never published it until i made a stink about it. It ended up costing me double than what it should have.

I got my TB back from the dealer at the end of the day, not too bad seeing that I dropped it off the night before... They addressed all of my warranty concerns except the vibrating driver's side outside rear-view mirror....The service manager said that the mirror assembly was on order from GM, and would be in within a week, no big deal, I can live with that...The truck definitely has a much smoother 1-2 shift and the "jumping" after shifting into drive(they call it "harsh garage shift") is also cured due to the updated PCM reflash bulletin(thanks to this great website that I call home!) that I brought in as evidence to back my warranty claim up...NOW it is ready to be sent to Alvin in NC and he can do his thing with my PCM, I can't wait!!! :D By the way,my dealer's service dept. has corrected every one of my concerns which have arisen in the past 34 months, so I must say I have been extremely fortunate so far...This will obviously bode well for my dealer when my significant other buys a car in a year or two, for sure... Just before the 3/36 expires, I'm going to ask my dealer if he will at least match Black's GMPP 0 dollar deductible extended warranty, and if he doesn't he will still get my truck to work on anyways....I just figure that I would give him the GMPP money instead of someone outside of our area,ya' know what I mean????

Guys...keep in mind that in the US, the PCM falls under the federal emissions warranty. Your concern will definitely affect the vehicles emissions
Double check the owners manual before paying for the update :undecided

Great point PROSPHOTO:hail:....The approach that you mentioned would have probably been easier to do than what I did by combing through TSB's, etc.,but I wanted to show them that a customer can in fact produce more than just a hearsay reason to get work done on their vehicle when it is truly warranted...The wonders of the internet age , I tell ya'!!! By the way, I forgot to tell everyone here that I had my rear rotors lathed(within GM tolerances) also to address pulsating during braking that was occurring during my trip yesterday to get my OnStar upgraded...They got a lot done in the course of a day, I believe...:)
