Its from Empire Motorsports, but several of the forum sponsors like Stylin Concepts and StreetBeat on the main page have them as well. It was not hard to install once I decided I didn't need to remove the entire grill. I undid the top 4 clips and then the one directly behind the bow-tie, and I was able to reach my arm in and unbolt (there are 2 10mm) the factory piece. There is a tech article under the "articles" section of this site that shows where the clips are. I used that as a guide.

Scott, I bought vinyl carbon fiber overlays to cover the bowties on my center caps. Do a Google search for Brent Franker (the overlays are on a subpage of BadZ28.com) and he can do them for you if you're interested. He's a nice guy too. And I agree the new bowtie on the grille looks great.
Note: When I first glanced at the title of this thread, I thought it said "snapped the bow-tie today." I was thinking "Oh s**t!"

Yes the rear piece has double stick tape under it. What a PITA to remove too. I have taken any badges/molding off all previous vehicles I have owned and this little piece was by far the worst.

A little trick I heard about (but havent tried myself yet) is using dental floss to wedge your way behind the emblem and through the tape.

Similar to dental floss, I used fishing line, and it did cut the emblem from the tape, but left the tape on the truck. So thats where the difficulty came from.

Goo Gone or Un-Do sticker remover cane be found at most parts stores. They do a good job.

How hard would it be to remove the bowtie from the molding on the back and replace it with a billet piece like the front? I don't mind it being back there but would rather it not be gold.

Just peel off the gold on the back and remove the adhesive with goo-be-gone. It looks chrome or high polished once the sticker is removed. Use a razor blade.

You guys should check this place out. Ryan is the contact there, if you Email him he will make up whatever you ask, he's been workin with our cars for a month or two and has come up with all kinds of vinyl overlays that look incredible..Quick shipment, custom work, very cheap also, he could charge alot more for the quality of his work..I myself would ask him for a Bowtie overlay of chrome/black outline, would look awsome or red bowtie/black outline.
I just received an overlay for my Pontiac emblem on the front to cover the red on my Black GXP and it looks way classier now, along with the third brake light overlay "GXP" very nice, Email him and he will work on ones for your trucks, had my ideas up in less than 2 days!
Think of how badass that SS would be with a nice "6.0 LS2" or "395 H.P." decal in any color outlined in whatever, as big or small as you need..Right on the fender in the traditional "spot" behind the wheel well..Now your talking "BadASS SS"

I removed the "trailblazer" and the bowtie from the back.... only thing it says now is SS... looks so much cleaner.... that back bowtie SUCKED. Took me an hour and half using a hair dryer on low and goo-gone.... but it looks sooo good. I can attest that Ryan is awesome to deal with. I think I may see if he can come up with a "395 HP" for the hood. Put it on the raised area near the front. what do u think about that???

Thanks! Yes I bought the truck at Munday. I think they were the only ones who had a silver one in Houston when I bought it, the day after Thanksgiving. I looked at your black one, but knew it was too much for me to keep clean as I travel every week. Congrats on the purchase. I have not seen another one on the road yet in Houston.

I took off the rear bowtie myself yesterday after reading this post. It only took me about 5 minutes. I used a strand of 50lb test fishing line after discovering that dental floss just isn't strong enough. The 50lb test did the trick, had the bowtie off in like 1 minute, and it took me about 4 minutes to scrape off most of the tape using my fingernail. All I need to do today is use a little Goo-gone to get the remaining residue off. I think it cleaned up the rear quite a bit, and now I am debating taking off the "Trailblazer" badge as well. I am definitely interested in a brushed aluminum bowtie for the front!

I replaced the front plastic bow-tie on my grill last night with a polished billet aluminum one from Empire Motorsports. It makes the front of my white SS look 1000% better. The "removing grill" pictures under the "articles" section was invaluable. The rear bow-tie is next along with the trailblazer badge. Now if I can only find someway to mount my front license plate without drilling holes in my bumper.

INow if I can only find someway to mount my front license plate without drilling holes in my bumper.
I have a friend who did this on his old grand cherokee... I don't know where he got them from... but he got 2 50lbs magnets (probably alittle over the top) put some very soft weather stripping on the back of his license plate and then got the magnets up behind the bumper shroud and it works on holding his license plate without drilling. Even driving at highway speeds... (thats probably why he got the 2 50lbs magnets)
Now I don't know how thick his bumper cover is, but its worth a shot, right?

I want to replace my bow-ties with silver, they look sharp and there isn't another stitch of gold on my truck except those two bow-ties. I know where to get the front one but is there a replacement back one?? I know a post earlier said to just peel the covering off but I'd rather replace since mine is cracking along the edges anyway.

Looks like Empire Motorsports has a part number 205 - "mini bow tie" that is 2 7/8" long by 1 1/4" tall and comes with double stick tape already installed. I think that is about the size of the factory piece and would work as a replacement. You could pick up a front and back from them all in one shot.

Like "B 4 U", I debadged the rear entirely (except for the "SS" logo, of course) and ordered a polished aluminum for the front.
But I would think chrome would like nice, too.
Either way is an improvement over the gold plastic Chevy logo, especially for those of us with Silverstone Metallic.

For those wanting to reproduce this, the billet bowtie with perimeter line is by Empire Motor Sports, Rancho Cucamonga, CA (P/N TB232P). The SS emblem is GM P/N 22723625. It's not overstated and almost looks like it came that way stock. The billet bowtie balances nicely with the lower air dam chrome.
I also took care of the rear bowtie by taking off the gold overlay as mentioned earlier in this thread. It's a great touch that I highly recommend if you don't like the gold and want the chrome. Note the Elite brand SS hitch cover the wife just got me:

Just a FYI for those considering a chrome bowtie. Just got and installed a Chrome Bowtie from AutoAccessory4u.com, exact same fit as the all plastic ugly gold stock one TB's come with. It's all chrome with REAL metal bolts and screws, fit perfectly and looks great.

That looks NIIIIIICE! I'm definitely thinking about doing that to my black one. Especially if I can find some reflectives or something to put over the gold bowties on the wheels.

I was just on the Grafxwerks site, they have our "SS" logos done and some other decals, looks pretty cool..anyone talk to Ryan lately??
added this, they got the "B" pillar covers, center cap overlays, rear bowtie, bumper reflectors, I am very pleased my SS will be customized to fit my tastes very soon, the way Chevy should've done in the first place..Even the Envoy's B pillars are blacked out!!

Thanks for the update. It seems that other thread got taken down (vendor agreement stuff i'm guessing). I'm so excited for that stuff. I'm definitely getting some wheel bowtie overlays. I want the billet piece for the front and I'm trying to decide what I want to do with the back bowtie. This is so fun!

I think I am getting a white bowtie for the rear to match the "SS", it kinda grew on me, also the rear refelector overlays?? maybe black or silver to match the color of the truck? what color wheel bowties were you thinking of? I am thinking white or black again as my truck is primarily Silver/Black/White..this is a little confusing..
I am most definately getting those B pillar covers today!

I'm having a hard time deciding exactly what I want to do. I may have to photoshop my options. At first, I was thinking that I wanted an all black/chrome theme. My plan was to...
1. Remove white from SS badges leaving just chrome (order a backup set for when/if I turn in the lease)
2. Remove gold part from rear bowtie leaving just chrome
3. Replace front bowtie with chrome billet bowtie (from company I forgot the name of)
4. Cover gold bowties in wheels with black bowties
:undecided

he's sending me samples of the "flat" and "reg" black B pillar overlays, I will post pics when I get them...all the rest I am pretty sure I will be happy with...Just wish he could or someone could make a "6.0" or "LS2" emblem, like the SS's...that would look great in place of the "Trailblazer" and I don't like the GTO's, seen it already looks odd on the SS.

Never enough toys.Dealers saying by next week..Then it's mod time..I'm going to ask for a favor from you when I get it.LOL. I'm getting a run around at the Dodge dealer so if they dont hurry up and get my car I'm going to tell them to shove it.I'm 13th on their list and only 3 have come in.Now their saying Chrysler may not give them enough allocation(whatever that means) So I may not be able to get one unless someone cancels. If that happens I'm going to buy this toy for summer.

Nah.. They're nice and all but I couldn't spend that kind of dough on 1 car plus I'd have to work my a$$ off just to pay insurance and parts for the damn thing.Plus I actually enjoy being married:eek: Even the new Z06 is an awesome car but here it's like $115,000 + 15% tax So i'll just stick to my little cars.
I got the bowtie with the SS made in it from Shopman1. It is wider than the stock and won't fit into the area where the stock bowtie came out of. Is this how it is supposed to fit?
