Do you get dash lights when you turn the key on?
Does it do nothing when you turn the key to start it?

Chances are - ignition switch. (Assuming things like you battery is good and the like.)
Do a quick search on "ignition switch" and you will see that this is more than a common failure.

Same exact thing happened to my 2004 before i bought it. turns out the ignition switch wasn't sending the correct resistance to the PCM and resulted in a no start situation. Since the ignition switch is 100% digital, the fix is a replacement ignition.

Ok i see where you guys are going but why would the starter relay change the situation

B+ is supplied through the IGN A fuse then goies to the relay. At the relay terminal, the B+ wire to the ignition switch branches off. There may be two possibilities...

-A poor electrical connection at the relay terminal, or

-Removing the relay allowed just enough of a voltage increase to overcome the ignition switch fault. Then when you re-connected the relay, the ignition switch was operational. :undecided

You could also have an intermittant problem with one of the other terminals for the relay

I took the relay out and reinstalled and it started just fine. and has started 4-5 times since
