engine whine/whistle

while my car is at idle i can hear a whistle/whine coming from somewhere in the engine bay, seems like when the hoods up and your looking in, its on passenger side of the engine, but i dunno till i get more time to take a better look. Sometimes when i turn the ac on hi the whine goes away sometimes it does. Does anyone have any suggestions?? ive read up about the idler pulley and alternator problems that may produce the same noise, but when stress is put upon the motor does the sound go away?

Power Steering pump. i wouldn't worry too much about it unless there are signs of failure or the noise gets considerably louder.
