I disconected my battery after reading it may help me after i installed my cai. the intake has been on for about 800 miles never through the ses light. i noticed a loss of mpg so i disconected the battery for a hour and when i reconnected it i went for a ride now my rpm is at 1000 instead of 600 when at idle and aftert about 40 miles the ses light is on and i tried shutting it off and restarting it but it is still on with the high idle any ideas. please help

May be a shot in the dark, but are you having a problem with your fan engaging and staying on too long as well, or is this strictly involved with your work with the "CAI", whatever that is.

I had a problem with the high RPMs and loss of MPG and had to change out my fan clutch. The prob went away and the SES light turned off.

The circumstances are definitely odd...I would go about this 2 ways:

1-find out what the code is (Pxxxx)

2-disconnect the battery again & see if it was just a glitch :undecided

ill have to try to try to listen for the fan that is how you tell it is on correct what else can i do to test it?

i have a appointment to have the code read on tuesday would disconecting the battery again loose the code if so i want to wait until the code is pulled.

the idle problem only started after i disconected the battery it was fine befor that so im trying to figure out what that could caused it if these are two seprate problems or pulling the batery helped it throw a code to the original problem that was causing loss of mpg.

Disconnecting the battery will erase the code

you can just goto autozone and have the code read, you dont need to make an appointment just pull up and they can read it for ya

yes i triple checked them. i put a good 500 miles on it after the cai with no problems everything started after i disconected the battery thursday night the ses light came on friday on my way home from work.

after driving it today the idle is back to normal mabey it took the pcm a few days to relearn everything but the light is still on im hopeing that it is something to do with the pcm not regersting something and just needs to be reset now that everything is running correct.

If the truck "feels" OK, and the check engine light goes off on it's own (before you bring it in), the fault had corrected itself & is no longer present. The code can still be read (history code) after the light goes off (if it does) so you can see what system had the issue

well the light went out so i think im going to cancel the appointment i really think it had to do with disconecting the battery. now that the light is out i really dont want to spent the money to get it pulled or do you think i should what do you think?

You'll be alright  If you happen to be passing by an autozone or advanced this week, pop in & ask them to pull the history code for you (just to see what it may have been) :undecided
