If I remember right... our max load on the hitch is 400lbs.

The hitch hauler I am making will be about 75-90lbs (guessing).
Bike is about 250lbs.

Any ideas on how the SS will handle and/or squat with close to the 400lbs limit ????
I am just worried it will be too much too close to the max limit and may squat to close to the ground...

I just purchased one of the Ultimate Mx haulers and so far it looks like its going to work out ok. I have a Gas Gas 250 that probably weighs 240 or so the hitch carrier is about 65#, the load leveling takes care of the squating issue and it seems to be pretty secure. I am thinking about moving the unit in towards the truck about 3-4", there is more than enough clearance and it would take some of the strain off the hitch and my nerves.

Rides fine, does'nt seem to heavy at this point, but I'll keep a close eye on the integrity of the hitch and the unit itself. I am going to add a few more attachment points for tie-downs and possibly accy. lights.

You can get a cheap Harbor Freight trailer that would be much better for really cheap. They've gotten a lot of good reviews at www.sportbikes.net whereas the hitch type trailers are generally looked down upon.

Not saying don't do it, but it seems a normal trailer would work better for hauling around a SS bike, especially a DUC. :D

I would not want to haul anything any heavier than my GG. I bought this due to the fact that I ride after work and their is no place to park a trailer. This unit is pretty stout but I don't think I would take off on a 3 or 400 mile trek with it.

yes, but you have the extra expense of the trailer tags....just my :m2:

I already have a Kendon trailer but I was looking to avoid the slow lanes and 55mph speed limit.
Here in CA the tags on a trailer are a one time fee but you are required to keep it at a max speed of 55pmh and in the slower lanes.

still kicking the idea around but spending all off days ridding :D

No way I'd use that, it would burn through your tires plus extra stress on the motorcycle, you'd have to take the chain off or leave it in neutral or something. I'd just stick with the trailer and deal with the slow lane.
