I do mine every 10,000 -15,000 miles or when I hear the cold carbon knock in the mornings (usually louder in winter).
If you use Chevron all the time, then you get a small dose...
if you non techron gas- then youd benefit.
But at 9000 miles.....hmmmmmmmmm not sure Id do it that early... unless someone knows that its REALLY beneficial at such an early age.

If you use Techron, be sure to get the "concentrated" version. Its a little more $ (maybe $3 more) but its worth it.
With that said, I buy a concentrated Techron additive 1x every oil change. I also bought a 4 pack of non-concentrated Techron at Sams Club or Costco (cant remember which) but it was mega-cheap. Ive been known to use Valvolines synthetic fuel additive on my "beater" cars...an 89 Plymouth Acclaim LX and 93 Saturn SL2. But the 'Voy gets the Techron :D

If you guys stick with a top tier gasoline (http://www.toptiergas.com/), you don't have to worry about the cleaners as they are already in the gas

I just throw a bottle of sea foam in about every 5000 miles.

The only "name brand" gas around here is Marathon,Mobil,BP and Sunoco.

seems that its a buildup of carbon on the piston, the movement and the sidewall. its not supposed to be 'bad' for the engine.
ive read about it in a few places.
