Anyone pick up vent visors and or a bug Deflector for their extended TB? What kind did you buy and were did you buy them?

I have them for my trailblazer, but it's not the extended version. I got mine from a friend that worked for chevy. Both of them were GM brand. The ventvisors i got were the kind that stick on with 3M tape. I know AutoVentShade company makes them pretty cheap. You could check out their website and look up a part number.

Actually AVS makes the GM Accessories ones; they just brand them as GM.

I also have the SWB truck with stick-on AVS visors. I also added the AVS "Bugflector-II" guard on the hood. These are what I would recommend using. I looked at the in-channel style but I didn't like the look as well.

Like 02EnvoySLE Guy, I have the AVS ventvisors and bugdeflector. I like them and got a good deal with them. Had them on my previous vehicle, a 1997 GMC Sonoma and never had a problem. However, I have noticed that the 3M tape is coming undone where the mirrors meet the ventvisors. Wish the tips would slip under the mirrors like the ones on my Sonoma did. Not a big deal. Probabaly get some 3M tape and see if I can get in between the two. I also had the in-channel's I had to WeatherGuards first and I just did not like the appearance or the application of these units. The visors would creek and groan when I closed the windows I was afraid that it would burn out my pwr window motors and scratch up my aftermarket tint film. Molding would bow out 1/4" from the frame near the corners and made it look like crap. I like the stick-ons currently. Good luck

Jeff

I didn't know that.

I just bought a roll of the identical 3M tape on Friday at finismaster. I'm going to be pulling my hood guard off to detail underneath it and replace the tape at the same time. I also will need it if/when I decide to do the turn signal mirrors mod. I'll have to dismount that front part so I can remove the mirror assembly for wiring.

You get the AVS bugdeflector? I didn't realize that tape is on the bugdeflector as well. I thought it just mounts via screws.

I'm looking at what i think is the Bugflector II from Wade. Is this AVS and I thought that it installs with screws only.

Maybe it's different on Envoys versus Trailblazers, but I have four screws across it and then two strips of tape located above where the headlights are.

Wade does not have a "Bugflector II" -- that is an AVS model name. And just so you know, AVS is owned by Lund, so a Lund part should be similar if not identical to an AVS part. Wade is a separate company.

I was told by the seller of this ebay item that it is OEM. If AVS is not Wade then how can this be OEM?

yeah the TB version has 3M tape also. It's the 4 bolts and tape. And like most parts like this, it's simple to install.

You should take pictures of this. I would be interesting in doing something like that with my TB.

They may very well be "OEM Style" but they aren't OEM unless they say "GM Accessories" directly on the parts. If they're Wade brand, they aren't OEM.

Does the tape for the bug defector go on the paint?

Yes. I didn't like that, but realistically it's the exact same tape used to hold on the side molding that comes on it from the factory. Considering that those pieces can be removed and have the residue cleaned off, I wouldn't be TOO concerned with it.

Did you put the tape on the top side of the hood? mine is underneath and sticks the wings of the deflector going under the hood to the hood

It is under the hood, yes... but there's still paint under there just like on the topside of the hood. If for some reason that paint gets peeled off, you'll still have a mess on your hands.

I ordered the GM deflector. It was cheaper than ebay $50.00 Canadian, the dealership gave me a discount since I bought the TB there. Now vent visors, I'm looking at the weather tech, I hate the idea of tape. I might have to get over it. Anyone have the weather Techs installed on their TB?

Thanks

Chris

Personally I would have to tell you to get over the tape. As I said, it's the same stuff they use to attach the side moldings, and is not really difficult at all to remove. Just heat with a hair dryer and peel back slow and careful.

Anyone use in channel Wade brand with tape?

I guess I have to get over the tape. The Weatertech visors are $160.00 Canadian and I think this is before the 15% tax. A few bucks for 4 pieces of plastic without tape. Looks like I'm going with Vent Shade in channel with tape for $77.00 Canadian plus 15% tax.

Hmm... I just pulled off my AVS bugdeflector and the only thing that I found that attaches the deflector with the hood are 4 screws. I didn't see any tape. Wonder when they started/stopped using tape. I purchased mine late 2004.

There's no such thing as "in channel with tape" -- you either tape it to the paint or you use clips to put it in channel. Frankly I much prefer the tape after seeing how the in-channel ones look.

Actually, that is half true, at least with the WeatherTechs. They were the first vent visors I had purchased for my TrailBlazer. The fronts mount via tension and some clips while the rears are held by clips and clear double sided tape. The tape is used to hold the visors onto the inside window moulding. I disliked them from the moments I installed them. Quickly got the AVS ventvisors that mount with tape on the paint. Hope this helps.

The vent visors/shade installs in channel and uses 3M tape to hold in the channel. The Weatertechs use clips for the rear visors only in the TB, but for $160 they can use what ever they want I won't be buying them. GM brand installs with tape on the paint or maybe the black moulding above the window on TB's. I don't like extras taped onto the paint. The GM bug deflector that I bought does not have tape just the screws.

Ok I got the GM bug deflector and I am noticing a little more wind noise coming from the rear window. Anyone notice any change in cabin sound with this installed?

Thanks
