Ok, so my truck was shifting from 2wd to AWD or 4HI all by itself. The dealership found that the switch was shorting out and switching on its own. They changed the switch. Instead of the new switch saying 4HI, 4LO, it has the number 4 with an arrow up and 4 with an arrow down. Maybe its the OCD in me, but I don't like it. Is this a newer style switch? I was looking at 2005's and 2006's but they all have the same switch I used to have. I'm glad the problem is fixed...but why the new looking switch? I want my 4HI and 4LO back

I have an 05 tb and my sister has an 06. My swithc says 4hi and 4lo. My siste3r's has the up and down arrows. I am willing to bet the switch with the arrows cost a couple pennies less at production. May be some ocd, or just liking things to stay the same, but I prefer mine without the arrows! I noticed that too, I have had an 02 tb, 04 tb, and 05. I noticed alot of little cost cutting measures over the years. One change I did like, my 02 had a strap built into the inside of back tailgate, now we have the handle. The strap seemed cheap.

Do you think if I went back to the dealership and make a fuss, they might get me the correct switch (if its even available anymore)?? Its the little things in life that really irritate me! :hissy:
Because the TB is sold/exported to other countries, a lot of items will have symbols rather than words since they may not be understood by a user who doesn't speak English. My Silverado cruise control has the dash indicator that says 'cruise', but my newer TB has a symbol to indicate that cruise is engaged. Parts that use symbols and stay away from words can be understood by everyone (at least that's the idea), and sold to all markets. Although I admit - some of those symbols are quite a stretch  :undecided!

You have the "correct switch".....whoever manufactures the switch for GM updated the design, and that is the only one available now. You might luck out and find someone who has the old style in stock, but seeing as how those were faulty. why bother?

mtt is correct. Everyting manufactured for a global market uses symbols instead of words to describe its function.

Personally, I find it is sometimes more convenient to use symbols rather than words to convey my meaning to the general public also.....bwahahaha

Is that little switch really bothering some of you guys that much? I spend more time worrying about the soccer mom blowing through the red-light in front of me in her Hummer, doing 50 in a 30, talking on her cell-phone....than I do obsessing about what symbols or letters are on my 4WD switch. OCD must SUCK.

I must have OCD too....
But I can understand that feeling that something 'aint' right.....
The major one for me is the lawn and flowers- grass has to have straight edges- where it meets cement- and newly planted flowes must be in a straight line- and hedges- must be square......:weird:
when I see yards that are not- it drives me nuts...
Ive never seen the switch you guys are talking about- old or new.
