In case any of you guys haven't noticed, there is a small storage area under your rear cargo mat. I know this sounds like a minor thing, but I found it last night as I was poking around in the back of my new truck. I just picked it up yesterday, and my salesman didn't point it out to me. If you haven't lifted up the mat, you wouldn't know it was there...

I think that "trunk" area is pretty neat!
Speaking of things related to the carge mat....what size is your cargo mat? I didn't think much of mine when I got it, but yeterday when my salesman was showing my an '06 LT model I noticed that mat was much larger than mine. The LT mat pretty much covered the entire cargo area, whereas mine is about 8-10" shorter. What gives? Since it's not a spec, maybe I can get them to switch it out?
You mean the built in cooler? :)
That's what the salesman at the local GMC dealer calls it, the cooler....they insist that its just big enough to hold 2 six-packs and a bag of ice. - I myself, keep a set of tools, space blanket, bungie cords, air compressor and 1M Candle Spot light in there.
Btw: Weathertech makes a great molded liner (catch-all style) with a non-skid coating on it.....I was given one as a gift a couple years ago.

Mine is shorter too, I plan on putting a molded liner in anyway so no biggie for me. But why would they be 2 different sizes???:undecided

I keep tools and a blanket in mine. I wish it locked though, it's a great place for cameras and etc. but it's only "out of sight", not really secure.

I love it, great place to keep my hitch and wiring connectors (2x, one is 5pin for electric brake disable on my boat trailer). Also, have some tie-downs and rope back there. Blanket is under the rear seat in the middle, and I need to get a small toolkit to keep in the TB just to be safe. Never broken down, but if it is something minor I dont want to have to call AAA and have them take 1hr to get to me.

I've got:
Fire Extinguisher, Leather rescue gloves, Jumper cables, toolkit, torque wrench, and long road flares
I keep short road flares in the driver side small box, and my air pump in the passenger side compartment
Lots of storage back there, it's great

This may be off, but sounds like they accidentally put one inf from an EXT. Check that and see if it makes the difference.

In this compartment I have my Amp, capacitor, small lamp and adapter for my trailer. On the left side compartment I have a towel, on the right compartment I have extra bulbs, a pack of industrial velcro ( I don't know why I have it there:no: ) and last but not least under the rear passenger side I have an air compressor.

I managed to break one of the rear tabs on the cover. Figured the cover would open up further, but it's only good for a bit or rotation and I have to slide it out. Two part epoxy to the rescue...
