Has anyone painted their bow tie, what do you use..

Yes... I painted mine black to match the body color... I first took the bowtie off the grille, sanded, primered, used Dupli-color black paint (3 coats), then clear coated (3 coats).

That is it... then slapped back on...

I want my chrome grill front to color match my truck. Has anyone done this??
Is it a pain in the ass? What do you guys like better, the chrome or the colormatch front?

I personally like the colormatch front. Best to get a grille already painted your vehicle's color, as trying to paint the chrome one does not yield good results. Sometimes you can trade on a forum or find a good buy on Ebay.

Just a quick question for STREETTEC.. The paint and clear coat you refer to above, does these come in a spray can or something else?? Is there anything specific I look for on the can for external automotive use??

I have an Indigo Blue TB and I'd like to paint the front bowtie and the little bowties on the wheels black.. Wouldn't look tacky would it? And would I use the same paint and process for these??

Thanks..

Yeap, it comes in a spray can. More info here: http://www.autobarn.net/dup88-series.html I'm sure the local autozone or pepboys will have it too.

Indigo Blue for '04 is Code 39 - WA 9792. There are different grill bars (chrome) vs. paint to match. This is also true for body side moldings and exterior door handles. I have an '04 LS that came with a chrome grill bar, black body side moldings and black exterior door handles. I wanted the monotone effects (coler-keyed) like seen on the LT models. As stated before, attempting to paint chrome does not yield effective results, I had to obtain the "paint to match" grille bar. Furthermore, the black body side moldings and door handles have a "pebble effect" surface rendering them useless for painting. This required me to obtain new body side moldings and (4) new door handles (smooth surfaced).

My wife saw a bowtie with the Texas flag colors on it and now wants one for the TB. Any Idea who might sell them?

I saw a vinyl one on ebay that looks like carbon fiber. Also seen one with the American flag on it....

oOo...I bet that carbon fiber bowtie would look great on a black crossbar. My back taillights are carbon fiber "look" so that kinda be the start of a "scheme" :D

I have a carbon fiber look bowtie hitch cover and carbon fiber bowtie overlays (vinyl) on my center caps. I had carbon fiber bowtie overlays in my door moldings too, but then I removed the moldings completely. I haven't been able to find anything for the bowtie on the grille yet. The guy who did my other ones took awhile to do them, and therefore didn't charge me when he did get around to them. There was supposed to be a grille emblem overlay included, but he forgot. I never brought it up because I didn't want him to think I was taking advantage of him. So if anybody knows of any carbon fiber bowties or overlays for the grille emblem, please let me know.
