Hello,

My GMC Dealer is charging me $580.00 to clean the Intake Manifold Gasket and replace the gasket on it. Also, $279.95 for Fuel System Service - That is way too much - What do you all think? Will this be hard and take a long time to replace? Has it been done by anyone here that has a V8? I might just have them do it for me... I need the car for this weekend long road trip - dont want it to mess up any more (I just had the trans replaced $3,200)... It giving a lean code- not sure what is the code #. :duh:

as for the intake gasket, if you are not familiar with the engine or working on cars let them do it, as for the fuel cleaner $280? id say no way! ask them why they want to do that and what it will do for you!

If you cant DIY the intake manifold, then I have to say gotta do it. Why does it need to be replaced anyway?

As for whatever fuel system cleaner junk, say "NO F-IN WAY!!!". Complete bs and its a huge profit margin. Buy some Techron and throw it in the tank for $10.

Thanks for the advice guys - I will let them replace the gasket - they said it was letting air in and that the GMC was trying to compensate by adding more gas... some ish like that.
