my clutch fan is acting up and needs to be replaced, any instructions on how to do it. tried to hold the tensioner pulley to loosen clutch fan, the thread are right handed correct? can not get fan clutch off, once it does get removed how do i remove it? is there any special tools i need? does the radiator have to be pulled? or will it fit between the fan shroud? how about efans, where would i get one and are they easier? any information would be greatly appreciated

from what i understand you can rent a fan clutch tool at places like pep boys,etc and i dont think you have to remove the radiator. Im sure other will have some more tips for you.
Others have talked about a tool that attaches to the water pump pulley bolts to keep it from turning while the large fan clutch nut is loosened. However on my 5.3L, there's no bolts on the water pump pulley to attach anything to. I desperately need to hear from another 5.3 owner who's done this to find out if I'm missing something.

Discount auto parts has a clutch fan removal tool you can rent for the day. Remove fan shroud and go from there...

Another Tip I Would Give Is To Get A Piece Of Cardboard And Place It Across The Core To Avoid A "ooops",,,, Radiators Are Kinda Costly
