Question about damaged tire

Ok I recently got a nail stuck in one of my 22s its about a quarter inch onto the tread but everyone says thats considered part of the sidewall since its so close to the edge and they wouldn't fix it. Now I've since had it replaced but I have the old tire. When I feel the inside of the tire behind the nail I can tell that it did NOT go all the way through and it was still holding air when I had it replaced. Is this tire still good if I pull the nail out or would I be taking a risk driving on it?

Had a similiar situation. It too was unfixable because right at edge of tread/sidewall area.
Personally I would not drive on the 22 you have, as the risk of it failing and doing damage to the expensive 22" rim.
