Ok on my way back from Rock Hill, SC a couple of weeks ago I was around 30 miles south of Asheville on I26. I passed a state trooper who had someone pulled over. Tennessee law is "pull over into other lane when passing stopped emergency vehicle" so of course I pull over by habit. I could only get into a farther lane position so I slowed to around 30 MPH. I looked at the car pulled over and then at the trooper, like most nosy people. I almost broke my neck and killed my brakes... A TRAILBLAZER SS STATE TROOPER?!?!:hail: So I kept looking as I drove (it was a straight-way so no worries). I immediately txt a few people on here (littlew2, MYBLK05LT, tayap79, jmaynard1986) who did NOT believe me:duh:. Well, it's true. North Carolina now has at least one known black SS state trooper. It was a beautiful site. I wanted to turn around and take a picture, but the last state trooper, not naming any names (D.W. Hollars) was a real :x. Sooooo, I didn't do that. Just wanting to share this glorious and not so good news. I am kinda hyped that they finally decided that an SS can be used as a good chaser, but now it sucks cause I know I can't get away, haha. So has anyone else ever seen one???

My grade 12 french teacher dropped that same multi-tasking line on me once. I shot her down so fast. Here was my reply (in french of course): "You're right, women can multi task better than men. You can wash plates and glasses at the same time."

Thats not beautiful, thats horrible!
Not that my Voy is fast enough to get away from a crown vic....
Or anything for that matter...
Scary ****. Davie cops have a c5 Corvette and the lights are hard to see from the front because they are on the back of the roof and barely go over. Now that is really scary.

It was a beautiful thing for me to see... considering I wasn't driving that first generation green eclipse he had pulled over.

I'd hate to see what fuel bill that that particular police department has to face with a TBSS in the fleet. The local Sherrifs around here do use regular TB's, Explorors, and even a Tahoe in addition to their Crown Vics

Maybe they were repo's or confiscated vehicles? If gas prices keep going up like this though, we'll reach a point where our cops will start driving those compact cars like they do in Europe

Maybe they'll even get those little stop signs that they can pull out like the cops in some parts of Europe have.

Has anyone been able to get a picture of this TBSS cop cruiser yet?

I'm from SC and I also drive a TBSS....It could be possible that the vehicle was seized from drug dealers, rather that auction the vehicle off they decided to keep it....... Just my thoughts

Absolutely! Law enforcement agencies do this every day. The Florida Highway Patrol even had a 1984(?) Corvette that it seized in their fleet at one time. It was even in Car Craft or Hot Rod magazine!

The Sheriff Dept in my town seized an Acura Legend used in a Bank Robbery. They used it for traffic patrols, they busted so many people for speeding because no one expected for that type of car to be used. Cops are pretty crafty these days.

Few departments near me are going with Chargers. My department bought 10 new Ford Exploders, but we're down to 8 now ( 2 accidents, one of them a rollover ) All of them being marked patrol vehicles... I'd be a little weary of pulling over for a Camry with flashing lights...

there's a number of things you can do. you can call 911 if you aren't sure, or when pulled over and you are not sure, you can ask to see the badge before he/she says anything. if it looks fake, ask them to call a Sargent or another responding officer.

Pulling over in the first well-lit area is not really the best advice because if they really ARE the police, they need you to pull over as soon as it is safe. Just keep a few things in mind:

- Unmarked units make traffic stops but plainclothes officers almost NEVER make traffic stops. Pull over as soon as you can do it safely, but if the officer in the unmarked unit is not in uniform, call 911 immediately, lock the doors and without rolling down your window even a crack, ask to see their badge AND warrant card. (Badges can be faked, but every officer has a badge PLUS a "warrant card," which is a police ID card with their picture on it.)

- There are a variety of specialized vehicles used in law enforcement. Large SUVs are great for K9 units; common nondescript vehicles that can still travel fast such as the Trailblazer are perfect for street crime/undercover/stolen auto unit officers; very fast sports cars and specialty vehicles such as the Trailblazer SS are good for interstate patrol, and almost anything interesting can be found in community policing and school programs.

- There are only four vehicles manufactured today that are approved and rated as full-spectrum police vehicles, which means that are rated by their manufacturers for pursuit: the 2009 Dodge Charger, the 2009 Chevrolet Impala, the 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe 2wd, and the 2009 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. This means that almost anything can pull you over for a traffic stop, but there will be a marked unit very close in case a pursuit entails.

The Trailblazer SS may be great for pulling over vehicles on the interstate and for coming up very fast behind unsuspecting drivers, but if the vehicle stop goes bad, the Trailblazer would have to back off and leave it for a marked and rated unit.

This is why Trailblazers are used a lot for specialized and undercover work and for fire departments but because they are not rated for pursuits, they will always be a rarity on the highway. (Which, by the way, is too bad. The 2wd Tahoe is VERY popular as a police cruiser right now and I think GM could have extended the life of the TB with some chassis changes and turned it into a great police cruiser quite easily.)

Hey thats the Woodward Dream Cruise! I hope God answers Detroit's prayers or that maybe the last one of those.

I know most of the USA blames us for being overpaid, building crappy cars, lacking technologies, ect but its not true. We Detroiters work really hard to make nice things that people need and want. In a matter of weeks people went from cadillac trucks to priuses and insights because all the movie and TV stars did. And if you bought a Hummer, as of march 2006, you became an eco terrorist. Thats not our fault. Our property values have dropped +40 percent, we cant really sell and move out of state to find work. :(

Please help us.
