2005 5.3l Denali Engine Oil Filterstpolo 02-13-2008, 12:31 AM I've searched and found a couple of hits, but still haven't found a straight forward answer. Is the oil filter that big of a PITA to get out? My wife has the truck at work now so I can't look, but it's in need of an oil change ASAP. I saw the post in the resource section for the I6 engine, but nothing for the 5.3. Is there a cover on the bottom that you need to take off like the I6 engine? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Exit32 02-13-2008, 10:13 AM My '04 Rainier equipped with the 5.3 V8 does have a small access cover over the oil filter. It's about 6" x 6" and two or three small bolts hold it in place. Not a big deal to remove and replace the cover; takes about two minutes. stpolo 02-13-2008, 11:05 AM Is the oil filter a pain to get out without making a mess. That as my main concern......
