The rear valance of the SS is so clean I am having a difficult time figuring out a good location for a 7 pin plug for my trailer. Anyone with a suggestion or better yet, picture of their install?

It wouldn't be easy to get to...but couldn't you mount it up behind the bumper...you'd have to reach up under the bumper for the plug in....but it would be better than having that plug exposed on your truck. I've been wondering the same thing...my car hauler and my horse trailer both have 7 pins and I need the brakes with either.

Well that is the dilemma. Crawl around under the truck to connect or ugly up the a$$ end. I'm so vain, I guess it's going underneath.

Go hidden behind the bumper, caz it will look way better in the end:thumbsup: :iagree:

Yeah. I guess that's what the little storage compartment in the floor of the cargo area is for. A blanket to throw down when I crawl under to hook it up. :rotfl:

Go behind, because you can always remove the plug from the existing mount and either relocate the mount, or have it in such a way that the plug itself has a hook on it and hook it to the frame when not in use. When you need, unhook it, plug the trailer harness and rehook. :m2:

Since I havent seen where the SS harness connector is, is it in the same area as the stock TBs is? Drivers side, right under the bumper?

The trailer connector is a pain compared to the 7 pin ones like on Yukon's etc.

You will find the 4 pin adapter under the floor in the back of the truck.... The connector it attaches to is UNDER the truck up in, to the left of the hitch, and it can be tough to get out.

I pulled mine out. connected the supplied trailer lights adapter, and ziptied it all up next to my reciever so I don't have to screw with it anymore....

My running lights didn't work either, I had to find running lights power elsewhere and cheat it in.....

 You only have a 4pin connector? I thought they have the 7pin connectors standard (at least on my 04 LS)?

The type of connector WAY up under the rear is some new type of connector I have not seen before

In the back of the truck is an adaptor that adapts the 7 pin connector WAY up under the back to the flat 4pin type. If you need 7 pin, you will either have to find the opposite end to the connector that is WAY up under there (there IS a place to connect it to when it isn't connected to anything to protect it, just a plastic sleeve type thing) OR find an extension adapter to go from the connector under the truck to the 7 pin GM type we all know..... At least if you get an adapter like this it should be long enough that you could figure out a half decent place to put your 7 pin connector and just leave the adaptor in there permanently. I certainly liked my Yukon setup better, it worked well and I could adapt to most trailer connectors very quickly.

They should make a plug inside the 2" hitch mount and somehow wire it up so that when we plug in a trailer, it connects automatically :undecided

If you look up under the bumper to the left side of the hitch 10-12" from the hitch there is the factory harness end for the trailer wiring. It just locks into a plastic sleeve to protect it from the elements. Above and behind the bumper. You have to reach out, pull it out of the sleeve, and connect the trailer wire adaptor extension in the trunk to it, and on the other end of this trailer adaptor is the flat 4 pin type trailer connector. So, this will work for most trailers without brakes. If you need to go to the 7 pin setup, you will need an adaptor cable from the trailer connector on the TB (SS) (grin) to your 7 pin connector setup which you will have to mount somewhere yourself. And then work on getting the brakes wiring completed yourself too.

It's pretty simple, if you can't figure it out after reading this and trying it you should go to the dealer or elsewhere and get them to do it for you.:weird:

OK, sounds exactly like my 02s location, but I guess with the SS bumper being slightly lower to the ground, it would make it harder to use.

But, please someone take a pic for the heck of it. Thx.
