If you want to feel a bit better about the situation you can get a can of throttle body cleaner. But you are probably okay :D . It happened once in my s-10 Blazer. Is the tube plastic or metal?

If something really bad got in there, you would know about it.

Time to trade for a SS. You might have a family of chipmunks living in your engine without that filter on there.

Hell JJ, you have a great career right now. SNL and a lot of funny movies. I think you should buy yourself an SS. Hell, buy me one while you are at it. I'll be your best bud!:raspberry

He has an aftermarket intake, and I didnt have one of my original oe filter before I installed my K&N in Dec. 04. My K&N does have one though.

yeah that k&n was clamped down I dunno wtf. the intake tube seems like it is a touch shorter than it should be, maybe i didnt' put it on all the way to get it to fit a little better.

I think you might have the same intake as me. Is it the ebay one from chrome intakes?

I found my filter off one day too. I just pushed back on as far as I could and tightened the clamp as much as I could. So far it is still on(I think).

I'd do an oil and filter change ASAP. This will clear out any dust that found its way into the engine.

I definitely concur with that. Pulling dusty unfiltered air through the PCV system and crankcase for 2,000 miles, I would change the oil No.1, ASAP.

f'ing did it again....

here is how I dealt with this horror... scrubbed the throttle body, emptied the oil, put in 5 quarts of walmart synth oil and a quart of oil system flush, idle the engine for a while. While it is idling I pour some SeaFoam into the intake manifold. Let the engine choke, wait a few minutes, then start it again. When it stopped smoking I emptied the oil again and filled with M1 oil and change the filter.

hate that cheap intake tube... :hissy: :duh:

I don't recommend anyone buy a ChromeIntakes tube/filter

The whole intake fell off or the filter?

I have one of those intakes, and it went through a Canadian Winter and Summer. Just cleaned the filter and no problems.. I am thinking of upgrading the actaul filter though..

Try wrapping the end of the tube where the filter slides over with some friction tape. Should be able to keep it neat enough to suit your tastes and it will provide enough resistance to prevent the filter slipping off.

JimmyJam,
Unless those last 2000 miles involved the Dakar Rally, you'll be fine. I do respect your response and the steps taken in view of the the situation

Jimmy,
If you still have your old oil. I would send it off for an analysis. Look for high content of silica = dirt. This will give you some idea of how much dirt got by the piston rings.

www.blackstone-labs.com is a good place, have used them for years.

Good luck

Jimmy, if you are going to get rid of it, let me know. I might want to take it off your hands.:undecided
