I need to replace the windshield in my 07 SS and was wondering the cost differance between Canada and the US. I have been quoted as high as $750 bucks up here. Has anyone replaced one without going through insurance? What was the total and who did it? thanks

I got a quote for about $180 installed once. This is for without the sensor.

I don't know the Insurance policy specifics up in Canada, but don't they have something like most people have here in the US, which is full glass replacement? I don't think there is even a deductible, but even if there was, I would think it's less than the $750 you were quoted.

Is there a reason why you don't want this to be an insurance fix? Reason being.....any damage to the windshield would most likely be a 0 deductible insurance fix......(at least with my insurance it is)
Unless theres no damage to the windshield and you just want shiny new glass :D

So the rain sensor is more money then?? Hmmm
Here in alberta windshield coverage is an extra charge on top of any full coverage policy. It is typically one to two hundred dollars more a year with a deductable on replacement. Also they will only start the policy on a bran new windshield, so if you buy the vehicle used and it had one tiny rock chip repaired it will not qualify.

i would never pay more than $250 for a new windshield...the rest would be an extreme mark-up. just keep searching, claim insurance, wait for a sale, or use other cheap prices across the country to compare to theirs and hopefully they will lower the price. go with a nationwide company, prices may be more stable in your area with them.
