Hey guys i have a 2002 TB LT with the 4.2 engine... and the other day when i was moving it to park it in reverse at my house, i noticed that it was really revved up while in drive... well... it turned out that i had to rev it up a lot to actually make it move a lil bit in D even in 3,2,1 gears, although Reverse worked fine... well i parked it and when i turned it off and tried taking the key out, the key got stuck... F***... so my "intelligent" dad decided to take out the damn fuses "to check if theyre good".. damn it... and when i tried starting it again... it wont start anymore... so i opened the steering column cover and found a little switch that releases the key... so im guessing the key problem is related to the tranny not thinking its PARK or sumtin... any suggestions/ideas? well hope u guys give me some feedback... thx a lot...

Hey, welcome to the site, sorry about the problems. I know that you will not be able to restart the vechile before you have the key in the off posistion, so that should be fixed when it comes out, I tested that on mine. The tranny does not sound good at all. When is the last time you have had the fluid and filter changed? You can try to play with the gear selector to make sure it is into park while working the keys, or maybe even try rocking the vehicle. I have seen both work. Oh, and also work the wheel back and forth, that will stop a key from coming out also.

I dont know when was the last time the filter/oil on the tranny was checked i just got the TB a couple weeks ago... as for the key.. its out already... but it wont start.. do u think it might have been because of the fuses that my dad took out that the computer might have been reset?

If the fuses are all fine and put back into place, then it should turn over. Do you have power when the key is in the on position? If not check you battery connections and rechaeck the ign fuses and so on. Might be a bad ignition unit even. First thing I would do is get the tranny fluid changed and looked at when it starts. Hopefully it is a dirty filter and fluid. How many miles on it?

Hey everyone. I have a 2002 Lt and I am worried about the tranny. What the truck does is rev and rev and then finally it will jolt forward. the responce time realy sucks. is this an indication the tranny is blown? I find myself mashing the gas in frustration:hissy:. Can someone Help? All Ideas Welcome.
Transmission fluid was changed beggining of 07.

First make sure the trans fluid is full with the engine running and trans in park. If that looks good than you could have some internal problems. A delay into gear is normal, it is built into it but is generally annoying! If you have to really rev it to get it to move, not just wait to allow it to engage, then there is a common issue with all late model 4L60E transmissions. There is a Forward clutch accumulator piston and spring on the back side of the valve body. This is held in place by a metal cover that has 3 8mm bolts holding it on. Anyways GM switched from an aluminum to a plastic piston in the mid 90s, not a good idea by any means! This piston is known to crack and break and this causes a loss of forward apply pressure and the truck may act like it doesnt want to move in drive. Checking the piston is not hard to do and you will have to drop the pan to gain access to the cover on the back of the valve body to inspect the piston. If its bad then replace it with an aluminum one and go along your way and not worry about it again.... that is if your clutches havent already taken extra punishment.

As i read your reply all i thought was WoW.
Thank you very much for the advice. Abit overwhelming for me. Im not to into doing anything more than an oil change. I am pretty sure its what you just said it is. A plastic piston. I will see if the mech. up the block can look into it. Again thank you. Would a tune be something to consider? I like the replies that the "Wait 4 me" got.
