I have a 04 Trailblazer w/o body side moldings and hear that I can get them from GM Direct or possibly on EBay...Does anyone know how hard it is to attach them to the doors...???? Do they clip or screw on or are they glued on..??? Also does the side molding actually help stop dings on the doors...??? I already have a couple of them...
Thanks,
Scott

Yes, the moldings DO help with door dings. They're attached with double-stick tape, really easy to install.

Just make sure you prep the area well. Wash the area where the moulding will adhere, clay to make a nice clean and smooth surface, and then maybe get some alcohol to remove any remaining wax. Will probalby help if you did it during the afternoon when its hot. Thats what I would do.

It might help unless it's a shopping cart. I got a nice ding in the side of mine from that. Not big enough to worry about getting a new door, and way too small to fix, but it really bugs the hell out of me still. People are ****s. How hard is it to put a cart back? Or at least tip it on it's side so it doesn't hit someones car.

It is pure laziness  . I hate people like that. I try to put the carts away in its proper place if I even use a cart. I try not to park near any loose carts and the correal. In fact, I try to park away from everyone. As of right now, I don't have any dings and I hope I never get one.

yes, DEFINITELY get some prepsol (wax and grease remover basically) from your local auto parts store; otherwise the tape won't adhere properly.

Thanks for all the Great advice!!!...Now I know how to put on the Body Side Moldings....!!! Unfortunately it had a couple of dings when I bought the car used and I knew that....I am trying not to get anymore... I always park at the far end of the parking lots...sometimes a little bit of walking can't hurt you...

I tried that for the first year with my Corvette. It didn't seem to matter how far away I parked from everyone else, I'd always end up coming out to someone parked RIGHT BESIDE me for no good reason.
I simply don't take it to shopping parking lots anymore.

People see nice cars like a 'vette, especially parked away from other cars, and think it's owned by a snob who needs their head yanked from the clouds. They then set out to do whatever damage they can to it. It really makes me angry. I actually went over and chased one guy away from a pristine 50th AE convertible once in a parking lot. Looked at the time like the guy was intending to slam his door into the side and I wasn't about to watch it happen.
I actually did end up parking in the spot right next to him so the car was protected a bit (in the end, his and mine both since he was between me and a grass median, and on the other side of me was someone else's nice WRX STi). Of course we all still had plenty of room to open our doors and whatnot since none of the three were parked like morons.

Hey Guys, don't get me all riled up again about stupid, ignorant, shopping mall parkers like I ranted on in another thread that concerned replacing my side door moldings!!! It brings back some really nasty feelings that I have for those bone-headed types of inconsiderate people...Now that that's outta' my system, I will be a good boy...Sorry for the near rant, anger mgmt. practices are being applied now...I guess that it's a whole lot better than the whole door getting "demoed" without them...

Agreed. I have literally GOBS of touch-up paint on the door moldings. Worst is when I take my mom somewhere in the Envoy, and she's got a handicapped parking permit. I come back to find the truck SURROUNDED by shopping carts
I say if you're too handicapped to put the cart in the corral that's no more that two parking spaces away, you shouldn't be able to drive yourself to the store. :m2:

i usually park really far back also, but it seems like every shopping center is built up a hill so the carts just roll down into whatever nice cars are parked at the bottom. I've started parking on the sides and backs of buildings were no one parks. Even at my work it's a small parking lot and i used to always park right next to a curb on one side because that spot was extra large, but people still manage to park half in my spot. Then one day i got hit by someone who obviously can't make turns, now i take up two spots.http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y57/deathbynosleep/stuff4.jpg
