New here and my 2008 TBSS has some sort of protective plug covering my oil drain plug. Is there anything special I need to know about getting it off or am I in the wrong place...
I did find the oil filter and the closely placed crossmember.
All help appreciated.....:bonk:

I don't know about any protective coatings. The oil drain plug is the one you can see readilly through the opening in the splash shield. It's a washer head bolt like other oil drain plugs. I always remove the splash guard and that silly oil filter drain cup. That cross member in the way of access to the filter is just a piece of sheet metal for the splash guard to mount to. I trimmed mine out enough to get the socket extension in place to remove the filter. Then I clean everything up good and clean up any surface rust before putting the splash guard back on.
I also add 12 oz. of Essentialube to the 6 qts. of Mobil 1 5W30, it keeps the engine super clean. I change every 3k miles and that Essentialube brings out a lot of crap after just 3k miles! Just my thoughts. :coffee

Really? Mine didn't have that. Maybe it's something the dealer usually takes off.
