Newb to SS

Hey there..I have a few questions regarding the SS.Tony GXP has made me jealous with buying an SS.I have a 05 Grand Prix GXP and Tony and I have been on the ClubGP forum for quite awhile.(aka 04hemiboy)I live in Canada and was wondering for a $9160.00 difference between the AWD and 2WD would a 2WD TB SS with winter tires just work as good as the AWD with stockers?Is there an Insurance difference between the pair?I had a HEMI AWD Ram which got firebombed so I'm looking to replace it.I am about to go Monday and pick one up.I could only muster about 10mpg in the city with the Ram.So with my logical thinking a SUV with 400 Hamsters,better MPG,way faster,no playing with tonneau covers is the way to go.I also have a Dakota R/T which is 2wd. I could not move in the snow with the stock Goodyear RSA 255/55/17 .I put winter Goodyear Ultrigrips and it wasn't far off traction wise to my Ram in winter.Any info will be appreciated.What color do you guys think looks best?I bet it's silver.I have 5 cars and 4 is silver so I'm think of a different color but I know in my heart silver is faster.:laugh:

Hemi, I can't stress to you how much this truck blows the GXP away!! maybe not "as" quick as my GXP, but handles as well if not better, RWD is a big part of that, brakes just as well 118' from 60????? WOW..

My Dad came to my brothers today while I was there, I didn't tell him I bought it, he was looking at it for a good 5min or so, admiring it, then I walked out and said," you like it??" he said," it's yours?" I told him yep! he said, i'm going to pick one up on Monday! my mother drove it and loved it, she normally drives a TL (would replace my Dads van)..only bad news for Dad NO dealer around NJ, has a Silver 2WD SS...has to wait 3 weeks!!

LOL yeah I'm 99.9% dead set on it.I liked the GXP at first but once the novelty of it wore off it just isn't the car for me,plus I've had alot of problems with mine.As for mods you are going to be limited with having a FWD setup before breaking ****.No one believes over there though.There is a reason why all the manufactures that are in the HP wars are going AWD or RWD.Post some good pics of yours cause silver is itchin at me.:laugh:Also I think I put this post in the wrong section cause there isn't any responses other than yours which I got your opinion on the other board.lol I am just in the seesaw of AWD and 2WD:(

I'm also over at clubGP, GXP lover. I've been lurking and posting some since the SS has come out. I think it'll be my next. I have a TB LT right now with just about everything but the motivation to get out of it's own way.

Needless to say, I like my TB alot but it certainly isn't as fun throwing into a corner and accelerating out of it as the GXP is. I think SS would cure this problem though. We need something that will tow and haul (a$$) to and from the track. The SS will be great!!

AWD is definately cheaper on insurance. From what others have said the stabilitrak keeps the 2 wheel in line when you want it to be. I got the AWD, I have had my fun with RWD in the past and wanted soemthing fast and fun, but that could also be functional in the winter.

Not sure about the insurance, but mine dropped about $30 a month when I got rid of my 98 z28 for the SS.(also got rid of a 95 Saturn sl2 that was a winter beater) As far as AWD or RWD, go AWD, it pulls like a monster! Oh by the way, Welcome aboard!

Good news: I won't take a huge hit in mileage and I won't have AWD anymore!

LOL.They are quite the truck I have to order mine so i'm getting the AWD,Rear Seat Video,Rain Sensor,Sun & Sound,and of course the tune and intake.Dealer says 6-8 weeks.I'm getting white

I am gonna be hunted down by the GP faithful, what's up guys, long time no speak...

this is the best new vehicle I have owned so far, I can't believe it but I don't miss the GXP one bit..nice car but this replaced it easily, more functional, comfortale and just as if not faster.. If you love the GXP, you will LOVE the TB SS..it's my second vehicle, so I went 2WD w/o hesitation after driving both but if it's your only, AWD would be better, unless snow is not an issue (really isn't by me, but I have this reoccurring vision of having to drive in a 3ft high snow storm:weird:, so I also have an Envoy 4WD XUV) anyway, glad to see some friendly faces!!
