Bought an '03TB EXT year ago, already had 104,000 miles on it. Fan clutch went out, spent $200 bucks and an hour replacing, been working great ever since.
During Easter I went home to see the family. Brother decides to pull and ****ty and powersteering suddenly goes out.
Drove home 150 miles, brought it into the dealership to get it replaced and they call me letting me know for the new pump it was $150 dollars and $120 for installation. I asked them if they had any used ones because I could find on the internet used pumps for $50 bucks each. Mechanic told me that used ones might not be reliable. I let him know that for $150 bucks I could buy three and I'm sure one of the three will work and it's not like powersteering pumps go out all that often. He told me he would check for any used pumps. Calls me back three minutes later and tells me that they don't have any used ones in the shop, but they have a new one for $73. Cut the price in half!!
Three weeks later went home again. It was raining out so I decided to have a little fun. Soon as I turn it hard and punch the gas the powersteering goes out again. Four wheel drive also stops working. Pissed. Drive my TB home again and procastinate bringing it back. About a week ago Couple friends and I were going out fishing and taking the TB and I passed a car and hit about 80mph and it feels like my powersteering comes back. My buddies were making fun of me saying how it just felt that way because I was driving faster but when I slowed down to turn it was working great. Ever since then the Powersteering's been working great. Havent tried the four wheel drive yet to see if that came back in case the powersteering and 4WD were related because 4WD had been working fine before.
Anyone know why it would have gone out then suddenly start working again? Something caught in the hose?
