I wonder if something like that would fit there! That would be pretty cool.

I'll check it out with the vendor. I know them and I think they would probably let me play with it a while.

The LS2 uses the CAN bus which could be problematic, I'm not sure this gauge has CAN capability.

Kinda expensive as an "accessory" to put there, but I'd just email them for dimensions!

If it's smaller, you can make it fit by modifying that piece currently there.

If too large, I think you'd be SOL

:m2: Listen it's a 52mm basic cockpit style guage that fits in any 52mm guage pod, so just grab some randomn $20 autometer guage, that like myself im sure most of us just have sittin around in the garage, slap it up there, and there ya go

You could also put on the A pillar or do what I did:

Neat little unit, although after how badly Intense has repeatedly screwed over the Grand Prix crowd, I'd never even think of ordering it from them....

I think that's a little unfair and off topic. Let's not turn this into a flame war or get off topic please.

OK, so lemme get this straight:
As of this minute, an Aeroforce Interceptor guage would not work in a TB SS because it uses the CAN bus, correct?

If true, then does anyone know when the new version that supports CAN will be out and if I were to get one would it work in an 02 TB with the regular Class-2 and then down the line in a few months/years I could just swap in into an SS?

I'm pretty sure that it is either one or the other and not both.

A little birdie told me they were working on the CAN bus version and maybe late March early April would be a guess. I bet they have a lot of requests given the LS2 is CAN bus.

I have no idea on backward compatibility. I'd bet on no just because of the added code to handle both protocols....

They are located just outside of Cleveland, if any of you want to volunteer they could probably use a test vehicle.

OK, thanks guys. I will just have to wait until they release the CAN bus version and get an SS before I get one.

I'll be doing some testing for them on these trucks as I beta'd the other units. They currently DO NOT support CAN!

I just partially removed the dash and popped the SS emblem out. There's quite a lot of space back there. I was thinking of making a sunglass holder to fit in there. Has anyone thought of this? (I tried a quick search)
What do the other TB's put in this space?
I recall the 4wd/2wd switch in the same spot.
TIA

What's the diameter of the opening? Does it just pop-out with a little prying?

Thanks in advance.

I always wanted to make a secret door there. It would not require much other than small parts. In my imagination, I see myself hitting a button and that SS dash emblem popping out. Store anything I don't want in my pockets in that space like large amounts of money or maybe a sack (hacky sack :)).

What's considered a bad temp for our trannies? Typically I have mine on intake air temp and the MAF. This would be such a cool thing for you SS guys or any of you guys that take it to the track!

It appears to be 2 1/16 ish.
It pops out from behind. There are two clips at 3 and 9 o'clock, and a centering pin at 6 o'clock.

Has anyone tried a 2 1/16 gauge there yet? I'm wanting a trans temp gauge and that would be a perfect spot for it. My major concern on the trans is the fact that it doesn't have the aux. cooler...just the radiator one. Thanks!

I think a lbs torque gauge from an SSR would be cool too.

I've been wanting a trans temp gauge, too, but how do you hook it up? Some of them are by a sensor put into the pan. Are there any that can be installed without putting a hole in the transmission pan?

First, no a 2 1/16 ga. will NOT fit the hole.....hole is too big. I'm in the process of installing a trans temp ga. now. I'm modifying the SS plug to hold the ga. I got a B&M from Summit that you cut the trans cooler oil return line to put the sensor in.

I've had a trans temp gauge in all my vehicles, and I used to always put it in the pan. On my last truck ('98 Tahoe) I put it in the "pressure test port" in the side of the trans case, and that seemed to work just as well. It comes up to operating temp quicker than when it's in the pan, and it's 1/8" NPT just like the sensor, so it just screwed right in with no adapters or anything. These were the Autometer electric trans temp gauges. If this Interceptor gauge doesn't come out for our LS2's SOON, I'll be buying another Autometer and screwing it into the test port again. I haven't actually looked around under the TBSS to see how hard it is to get at though.

That looks good. Looks like it could have been made like that.

I just picked up my Autometer trans temp gauge yesterday. I wanted the Aeroforce one, but I just couldn't wait any longer. I emailed them and they said they are working on it and it should be soon. But I gotta tow the camper next weekend, so I started to put in the Autometer last night. It got too late, so I'll finish it up tonight.

What about relocating the wiper switch and installing another gauge?

2 1/16".....the hole is too big with the cover out so I hogged out the "SS" cover to fit the ga.
