Got into to the SS this morning, put the key in and the seat didnt move, I have memory seating. Tried to manually move it, got nothing. Tried the lumbar, it works. I think the switch went bad or something. Now I gotta take her in.
My question is, has anyone gotten the Fog light brackets and the rocker panel protection done yet? Did they cost you or did they do it under warrenty????

This is a little off topic, but there seem to be numerous problems popping up for these trucks. I love GM, but man they have to get it together!

Yeh but for the most part they are minor. The seat motor, hey it happens. Fog lights, design flaw being dealt with. Rocker panels, SHOULD have had the 3m shield to begin with, I remember when I got my 99 Grand Am GT it had the 3M sheild on it, never had a problem with chipping so GM knew it was a fix,but hey first year with the SS. The other TBs and Voys have running boards put on them. As long as (knock on wood) the drivetrain holds up I am happy.

Did you happen to check the fuse for the driver's seat.....it may be blown.

Yeh thats the first thing I did, then checked the harness under the seat. The seat bottom goes up and down and the back tilts, just wont go forward or bckward, stuck ALL the way back. Thank god for adjustable pedals :rotfl:
I can hear the motor click when I try to move it but it goes nowhere.

I wonder if it is really the motor "clicking" or maybe there is some sort of relay under there. If the motor was blown you'd get nothing out of it.

the first week i had mine i had to take it back to the dealer 3 times... 60 miles away... to get it fixed. the first time i brought it in they said "i thought we fixed that problem already" that was the first i was hearing about it. well i took it in 2 more times after that for the same problem. they kept replacing the motor saying it was going bad. eventually they took it out and replaced the bar holding the seat in. they said it was slightly bent and it was causing the seat not to move. havent had any problems with it since. thank god, i was getting tired of driving down there.
:EDIT: mine was doing EXACTLY what you are describing! you might have them check that bar. and im short with no adjustable pedals lol. that was interesting trying to drive it while it was stuck all the way back!

Sorry to hear that, the dealer will fix it though, and at least you have adjustable pedals. I dont, and if I forget to move the seat forward, I can be almost straight-legged while driving! Not exactly the safest thing to do.:duh:

Went to the dealer this morning. They found the wires in the connector had been pulled out. Something about the harness was pulled to tight when installed. The fixed the connetor and made a little bit more slack in the harness. The Service manager looked at my rockers and basically went.. OH CRAP! I said umm yeh, can ya help me out here. He took some pics and make extensive notes. He is going to call the Area rep for approval. Said I should know something before the end of the week. Said he suggests repaint the rockers and doors!!! Also add the 3M coverings. I told him I want to see them first before I decide on that or not. Also looked into the flaps, plain So I can paint to match. When I hear something I will let you all know.

Wow, relieved to find out it was nothing major. I had a very similar thing happen with a :hail: TOYOTA:hail: (sarcasm fully intended). Turns out the seat harness connector was placed in a spot where big-footed teenagers could dislodge it!

This was just from moving the seat back and forth with the memory seating. Everytime I get it it moves up and when I take the key out it goes back. Wierd it would be that snug.:weird:

Since they have fixed mine, It has done it twice, if you reach under the seat and jiggle the harness it will work again... of course until it stops. I am going to live with it until I take my SS into have the 3M put on, in April.

Thanks. I have an appointment at the dealer. Until then, I've turned off the easy exit feature.
