I just checked the latest incentives and effective 1/31/2006 there is no longer a rebate being offered on the Trailblazer SS. The regular TB and TB EXT both still have the $1000 rebate like they did last month.

Congrats to those of you fortunate enough to have gotten a TB SS with a rebate.

Too bad for the rest of us though. Our purchase price just went up by $1000... :hissy:

I just got my window sticker mailed to me yesterday...it's a great feeling having purchased at the right time.

(I know these words will come back to haunt me...):duh:

The way I understood it was that you got whatever incentives were in place when you take delivery, not when you order! That was the main reason I looked EVERYWHERE while the Red Tag Event was going on

Yup, me too. Came in by the skin of my teeth. Took delivery the 31st.

whenever you sign the papers for titling and financing, its yours and the rebates effective at that time, are what you get. did you get the vehicle built for you, or did you find one at the dealer and sign everything already?

I grabbed mine on Dec. 19th...I had a 5 year old Oldsmobile Victim's Compensation Fund coupon from GM for $1000 that expired on Dec. 31st, so couple that along with Red Tag and I had a strong incentive to find one on the lot.

Now wait, just wait...and I apologize to all those who want one of these, but what if they actually only made these for 2006? (Yeah, I know it's a stretch...)

I think I might have just giggled...

They went up $500 from $2500 to $3000 the week before I got mine in December? What were they in October?

I got $3500 in rebates and just got mine last week.

$1000 - TB rebate
$2000- GM Card points (only had 270 points, they topped off to $2000 the week before i got mine)
$1500 - random rebate on Exquinox & TB's (although some said it was only 1000 for the tb's, my dealer said it was 1500, and I got 1500)

Total: 3500. :D

I got a ton of ****, I think around $4500 or something insane I'll have to dig up the paperwork later. There was employee bonus cash, the regular rebates and a $500 gas card ;)

Hopefully they'll offer some more rebates later this year. Wasn't quite ready to purchase yet, but hopefully by summertime. My wedding and honeymoon is costing waaaaaay too much.

Well, when they lowered the MSRPs on 1/11/2006, they also reduced the factory rebate from $2500 to $1000. Those two pretty much canceled each other out.

As for the GM Card offer, some people are getting "topped off" to $2k and some to $3k and others get no topoff. I'm in the group that gets no topoff!

There are also the Chevy/GMC $250 incentive coupons that GM gave dealers to help them close deals. Those are good through 2/28 and the dealer can elect to give up 4 of them to a customer for a total of $1000 off. However, with the seemingly high demand and low supply of the TB SS, I doubt many dealers are giving them up on it.

Where did you see the disclaimer regarding the Trailblazer SS being excluded from TB rebates? I don't see it on the chevrolet.com or the gm.com web sites.

Well, crap! I missed the seperate listing for the TB SS on the GM.com site. They didn't list it as being excluded on the Chevrolet.com site though. I'm sure it is though since they always have those stupid disclaimers. :hissy:

I bought my Denali for $3500 off back in December. $3000 from GM and $500 for being in the military.

GM just dropped the prices (supposedly) so I'm not surprised they made up for the difference elsewhere.

How does the rebates effect trade in value...
Lets say you bought a $40,000 dollar vehicle for $35,000 with rebates....will the trade in books know you really paid $35k and reflex that come trade in time because of incentives given by GM for the model year.:undecided

Rebates drastically affect the resale value. Let me use the CTS V as an example. I bought my 05 CTS V for around $49k in Mar 05. Later I found out I have real bad arthritis of the left hip so I traded it in for my Denali for only $35k. Yes that is pitiful resale value, but new 05s were going for around $42k. The 04 version was down in the high 20s or around 55% of its MRSP. The V has a $53k sticker on it.

GMs biggest problem is that the vehicles are priced too high to start with. Some potential buyers get sticker shock and leave the sales lot. People would love to trade in their vehicle for a new one but can't financially. There isn't a car out there that is worth MSRP. Not unless you are talking about a very rare car.

Resale values also suffer from higher interest rates for used cars. Why buy a used car when you can buy a new one for about the same price? The only way they can make used cars compete is to sell them cheap.

If you bought a new car, it lost 20% of its value as soon as you signed the papers. Sad but true.

:iagree: The exceptions are out there though. The Accord we had was worth what we owed in one year, same with the Civic, and the CR-V. Do ya see a trend here? Now you can look up the lousy trade in on my TB. I have had it 2 years and its not even close to what I owe.

Steve02SLT

yeah, vehicles that generally don't have to have rebates to be sold, keep most value, but vehicles that always have rebates on them, lose a lot of value, since no one wants to buy a pre owned one when you can get the new ones so cheap.

I agree the big H company does sell vehicles pretty close to MSRP. They built trust in their name over the years. Somehow, I bet they wouldn't hold production on a car that was selling so well like the SS was. GM seems to like to sell "limited production" vehicles hoping to convince customers that they are worth MSRP (or more) to own a limited production vehicle. But they forgot that a lot of people think GM cars are unreliable with crappy dealers.

I can't complain really. I had a 2002 Eclipse. I have had some serious issues with arthritis, and had to get out of that Eclipse. It was about $3000 upside down. The rebates on the TB let me make the trade. So Chevy helped me out. Now that I have moved into the world of SUV's I would love to trade up to either an LT V8 or maybe even a Tahoe. Its going to be a long time before I can do that with the value of my TB dropping like a rock.

If our TBSS trucks managed to hold their value like the Impala SS of the 90's. I traded in a 03 ZR2 S10 owed 11 they gave me 13. I thought I did rather well. I think the poor reception of the colorado has a lot to do with the s10's holding their value.
