Has anyone experienced engine surging issues? My 03 Trailblazer when stopped at a traffic light(etc.) has RPM surging problems. It goes from 400RPM up to 1300+RPM, it goes up and down, up and down almost completely stalling. Sometimes it does actually stall. Sometimes it will stay at the higher RPM of 1300+ and if I were to take my foot off the gas the car would definitely lurch into the guy i front of me. Has anyone experienced symtoms like this?? Anyone have info or suggestions on what could be going on?? Please help me out. This vehicle has been to the dealer 9 times for many different reasons. Thanks

I've never had that problem in my Envoy, but did have it in my last vehicle. In the last eclipse i had, there was a faulty Idle Speed Controller. i'd say get the mechanic to give that a check.

What about reseting the car computer by touching the 2 battery wires together :undecided

has it ever died on you right after it did that?

Same dealer each time? If so, I'd look to try another service dept.

Yes it has quite a few different times. It does start right back up and drive, but it's a PIA and somewaht embarrassing sitting in traffic in a rather new car and having it stall and crap out.

I would look for another dealer but if I take it to the dealer I bought the car from I don't pay any deductible on my extended warranty. If I go elsewhere it costs $100.00

Maybe something as simple as some bad gas. Have you tried some Techtron in the fuel tank recently? Fuel filter changed within the last 15K miles?

I thought of the bad gas thing only I've gotten gas at multiple places over the last few months and it does it no matter where I go. The fuel filter has been replaced 2 times. I have 72000 miles on the vehicle. Found out the TB's etc. don't have a separate "idle speed controller" it is all controlled by the computer.

could it have anything to do with the air intake system? after thinking more about it mine never almost stalled with the old caked-with-leaves air filter, but when i changed it, it started maybe a month afterwords. then again maybe our problems aren't at all the same, but just worth a shot?

i had the same problem with my 05 tb. i had it towed to the dealership and they had to reprogram the ecu. they said the transmission wasnt shifting correctly. after they reprogrammed my ecu i havent had any problems. it was a recall or tsb. check into it.

I had the exact problem with a Nissan Truck. It turned out to be the intake manifold gasket  .

Mine use to almost stall out and vibrate when the a/c was on and the car was parked. I took the throttle body off and cleaned all the gunk off with throttle body cleaner and no longer have the problem. You might want to try it $3.00 and 15-20 mins. of your time.

Do you have a K&N filter??? sometimes the oil gets on the MAS and keeps the little wires from heating up.

Just took my 05 envoy in and it was surging. they replaced the Oxygen sensor and reprogramed the PCM. All is good now.

I rented a trailblazer in 2004 (it was an 04 model) I6 and it had 8k miles. While in reverse no problem but once in drive it would surge then stall just as i was pulling out. It did this 2 times in the 4 days i had it. Only when the rpms were very low. Since it was a rental i dont know why it did this but i just wanted to share that this similar issue has occured on an 04 with low miles. Good Luck

Try cleaning the throttle body first, it's the cheapest way to start, & it just might fix the problem.

I agree with the throttle body comment. Give it a try first.
My '04 Dodge 1500 displays trouble codes when the ignition key is switched on/off rapidly three times. The OBD trouble codes display on the odometer. It is an easy thing to search the internet to interpret the codes. Does Chevy have this feature? I hope so, it is very handy.
Good luck.
(My '07 TB is on order....)

only on vehicles that have MAF sensors, the TB up to 06 did not have them ,someone correct my chronology if im wrong.
