I've got an 02' Envoy with the 4.2L straight 6. The indicator light for 2wd often blinks when I start the vehicle or goes out all together. Is this the transfer case control module acting up or is this something else? It still drives fine but I haven't attempted to shift into 4wd.

I've read that you can disconnect the battery for 30 minutes and these might reset the module is that true? Is there a fuse that can be pulled out and re-inserted to reset it?

I don't want to have to go to the dealer to fix this problem. I'm going to be ordering a module to fix my automatic climate control this weekend and will fix that myself. I might as will fix the 2wd blinking problem at the same time.

Thanks in advance.

I would try disconnecting the battery first to reset everything. Then make sure all the fuses related to the 4wd are good. If it still happens my next bet would be the 4wd swtich it self. I have not had to do it myself yet but I hear it is an easy fix. I believe the switch is cheap too, like $45.

I did however have my service 4x4 light come on last winter and when switching from 2wd to 4hi the light would just blink until I shut of the truck. It hasn't happened since but I am sure I will be replacing the switch soon enough. Good luck!
