Is it possible just to buy some 14+" rotors and keep the stock calipers? Could you fab up an adaptor to fit the larger rotors? I'm very happy with the stock performance, but the rotors look tiny in there so it would mostly be for appearance. I can't see shelling out $3-6K for a complete system. I was a mountain biker for years, and switching to bigger rotors was as easy as buying a new caliper adaptor for your selected rotor size. Do autos work this easy?

I've heard of the existence of adapters for smaller ricers, I haven't seen anything for SUVs and frankly the thought of relying on them for stopping an SUV really scares me. the way it works is there is a caliper bracket that mounts on to the hub, and the caliper mounts to that and slides in relation to that bracket. so a replacement bracket would do the job, but I don't think it exists. and I think it would still look kinda funny.

edit: well thats how it is on regular TBs. do SS's use 2 piston calipers in the front also?
edit2: looks like they are the same...
edit3: found an example of a kit for an Acura RSX

edit4: hmm more suvs than i thought there would be. no trailvoys tho :(

I believe the pads are a version of the Corvettes

Thanks for the links. If those Powerslot people are doing it to Escalades and Yukons, I think the *little* TrailVoys would be fine! :)

I recently emailed AEM about a big brake kit for the TB and they said they are testing but no set release date. I had the AEM setup on my civic and it made a huge difference in stopping and brake pads lasted longer also

Well, the Powerslot guys must not be too interested, or they are very busy. They read my email 2 days ago, but no reply. My phone call went to voicemail, but I didn't leave a message. I'll send a followup email next week I guess.

I think an adaptor plate to move the stock caliper way from the hub on the same plain would be relatively simple. But now you have the issue of matching pad size to the disk face. If you are making the disk larger, are you expanding the face or just moving the same size surface out with a larger diameter hat. What about the change in braking power? Your brake bias will be greatly effected? What rotor do you propose using? Is the disk the correct thickness? Is the disk on the same plain. The adaptor may be able to modify the alignment if needed, but there are many elements to take into consideration.

Having said all that. I for one think the brakes on the SS look like they belong on a 72 vega. I was expecting much more.

I know, but I don't want a complete system. Just the rotors.

You might try Baer. They make a +1 kit for some vehicles. Basically it's an oversized rotor with adapters to relocate your caliper.

They are not making them for trailblazers right now. I've called. But if they get more calls....

Got a reply from Powerslot:

"
Thank you very much for your interest in the Power Slot Plus kit for the ‘06 Trailblazer SS. We do not have immediate plans to offer a Power Slot Plus kit for the Trailblazers-Envoys-Raniers-9-7x’s but I will survey our distributors and if sufficient interest exists, we will add these GM applications to our R&D list. The LS2 powered Trailblazer SS has a different/larger braking system and I am expecting direct replacement Power Slot Performance brake rotor part numbers, pricing and availability in approximately 120 days. Thank you for your interest in Power Slot Products,

With Best Regards,
Ken Unger"

So everyone, send an email to tech@powerslot.com and let them know you are intersted in a kit for the SS![/FONT]

The front rotors on my '05 Envoy Denali are the same diameter as the TB SS rotors.

For those of you who are thinking power slots improve performance, read here: http://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=4733

There are also other threads if you do a search that support this...;)

True that. I guess it's been a while since I've even looked at Power Slot's offerings. I didn't know it was actually doing something to improve braking by increasing the size of the rotor. Of course, with the power slot package, I would imagine (don't know help me out here) that they would only come slotted and not as blanks. This would mean you still have all the issues with slotted rotors, no?

they state that their slotted pattern maintains 96% of the braking surface on oe sized rotors. their plus sized rotors are 14" replacements for 12" rotors. I'm not going to do the math but I'm fairly confident that this is more than a 4% increase in surface area

I wasn't even going to that level that most people don't know/care about, I was just talking about the faster pad wear, extra noise, dusting type problems, and the like.

I think the extra size will more than make up for the little mass that's lost slotting them. I don't know how the slotting effects the stress of the rotors going out further like that though. I can't imagine anything inappropriate happening, they've been out long enough I imagine PS knows what its doing, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

what is the smallest size rim that will fit on the ss
17", that is the smallest size that fits, and is also the size of the spare rim.
