What is the best way to get rid of the rev limiter??? It is very annoying to have it kicking in and out at 97 mph.
Sorry if this question has been asked b4...

Ive heard of a Trailblazer being able to do over 100 with the stock PCM .. I havent taken mine above 70 mph yet ( less than 1000 miles on engine still )

The reason most cars have a goveroner / speed limiter is usually due to the Tire rating. Not something that should be taken for granted, let alone the fact that highway speeds in excess of 90 mph are dangerous, you can imagine what a blowout would do to your SUV at that speed. Just make sure your Tires are rated for higher speeds before you start thinking about removing the speed limiter. Just my :m2:

The EXT limiter kicks in at about 97-98MPH, and you arent the only one ready for it to be gone. The SWB models go to like 107-110ish, I know my 02 stops at 107 or 108, wasnt paying that much attention to the speedo because that is the fastest I have ever driven and didnt want to die.

A Westers tune for the 4.2L I6 or the 5.3L V8 are available and they can set the limiter wherever you want.

Ive been 145+ MPH before ( buried the needle, not sure how much faster it really was ) .. at that speed you just hope you dont hit a bump on the freeway.
Most important things when removing your speed limiter - Properly rated Tires, and Driveshaft quality. I looked under my SWB 06 TB and it has an Aluminum driveshaft (im not sure if they all come with an aluminum shaft ) .. its slightly better for higher speeds, but not as strong as steel. Its more suitable for the higher gear ratios ( 3.73's for example ) .. high speeds require a good solid shaft, when your shaft is spinning at high RPM's it bends at the center axis point and you can actually hear the harmonic frequency's vibrating through your drivetrain.
Although I dont see most people here wanting to go over 120 MPH at the most.

Thats about all I wanna do is 115 ish. My 97 Suburban was set about 97-98 MPH too, thats about the only thing I hate about the truck.
I wonder why the extended trucks are set differntly than the short ones?:undecided

I have the 4.2 w/4:10 gears in mine...I love the power, but need alittle more top end (I dont want to get passed by you short trucks!!)

Probably due to the difference in driveshaft length.

145 on a stock tb????????? how is that possible:crazy: :weird: if not stock how did you do that:hail: :hail: i have an envoy that tops out at about 110. got a jet performance stage 1 chip but not sure if that changes the limiter??

LOL, sorry no, just to clarify that. I mentioned above in the thread that I havent even had my TB above 70 mph.
Personally, Ive driven other vehicles over 145 mph, in a Corvette and a Thunderbird. Speed kills.
It IS possibly to take the TB up to those speeds, but you wouldnt know without a different speedometer ( maybe the SS's ), and you would need a different gear ratio, its all about gearing and having the right safety equipment.
