Hello to all helpful trailvoy enthusiast, I recently had a tear in my cv boot (outer) and about a week later i started to hear grinding noises and i decided to buy a new cv halfshaft from rockauto.com for 55.00 dollars. I recieved the part and today i have begun to disassemble the cv axle. My question is do i have to take off the shock absorber module and has the three bolts (18 mm) on the rear of the disc been hard to remove ? Please fellow friends i hope to finish this today. Thanks to all.

It's not necessary to remove the shock module in order to change out the axle shaft. First, loosen the axle shaft nut (36mm) but do not do anything more to it at this time. Next, remove the attatchments for the brake hose and wheel speed sensor-this allows enough slack in these parts for the next steps. Now, remove the nut and bolt from the upper control arm (15mm) and separate the upper control arm from the steering knuckle. Be careful, it's quite heavy so watch where your fingers are. At this point you can pull/jerk the steering knuckle and axle shaft outboard just far enough to clear the bearing assembly (differential.) Using a brass hammer, or wood block and hammer, drive the axle shaft out of the steering knuckle. Reverse the process to reinstall. I don't remember the torque values for anything but the axle shaft nut (140nm.) Good luck!
