Is this lug a suitable power source?

The thick red wire is factory. Can I add to that?

What I need to power are 2 strobe packs and 2 switch packs. All are only 18 AWG wiring each.

Not sue what this lug is for, but it seems perfect

Advice?

Chris

I used it to power my aux. reverse lights. No problems. I think it is just a lead from the battery to power the fuse box.

do not use that wire, it is a fused wire from the battery that powers most of your vehicles components, if you blow that fuse, you are screwed, big time. run another wire straight from the battery to wherever you need

I ran wire for 3 years, you can use that power supply but make sure you put an inline fuse in to prevent any mishaps.

i am using the same one to power my dvd player and monitors. i think it is good enough for your strobes.

it is good for minor aux but no good for power hungry amps.

well...(im about to get yelled at):ugh::duh: i have my amp hookedup to this for over a year so far and no problems...i have an inline fuse with it as well...its an 800.1 and its been fine so i dont see why it wouldnt be able to handle the load you have for it:undecided

If his equipment fails the inline fuse will short protecting the relay center. That feed going into the relay center is most likely coming off the battery anyway so its no different then running it from the battery. I would agree that if you don't have much experience or don't feel comfortable doing it then bypass to the battery. If you do deiced to do it i would use a 5 amp fuse just so the tolerance is low.

That lug is used to power the entire rear fuse box and I have my amp on that lead too (and my inverter, and pc, and valentine 1:bonk:) all inline fused. Don't tell me I'm in for it because i know I am and have no problem accepting the risk. The rear fuse block is fused in the front, it uses the "little big fuse" that's lowest on the box.

Anyways, 2 years running and no problems.
Oh yeah, by the way, that "fuse" is rated at 125 AMPS.
