Exhaust sound ?

This is a quistion for all of you guys who made an Exhaust upgrade, i want to get as near as i can to the V-8 sound " i know it'll never be the same but you get the idea" :yes: so what can i do ? i need that sweet sound on low RPM but not that high "cuz i drive on high ways a LOT" so what can i do ? and if you please have any sound file attached ? :D :D

you will never ever come close to getting a deep sound with a DOHC engine... even V8's DOHC sound weak with a flowmaster.

My neighbor has a 03 Tundra with a Flowmaster... its a 4.7 DOHC V8 and it sounds so raspy. I had a flowmaster on my pushrod V6 which sounded more like an V8 than this thing does.

Once had a V6 4.0L Ranger with a 2 chamber flowmaster single 3" inlet and dual 2.5" outlets, sounded great and tried same combination on a 02 Envoy with dissapointing results. Now have a 05 Rainier with 5.3L. Can't wait to change exhaust since I now have a SUV with a real engine.

No I dont have a clip of it, it was on my S10 Blazer V6. I since replaced it with a dynomax b/c it was just getting to be too loud. esp when I'd be out plowing with it for 12 hours at a time. Im sure there are clips of it out there if youre interested.

Ok...this is what i did when i had my 03 TB.
I had the resinator & muffler taken off.
It was replaced with a walker replacement muffler single in dual out.
From there the exhaust shop ran the pipes out the back on both sides.
The key to the sound was the tips.....Long 3" slash cut chrome tips.
Its sounded great.
When i was doing this i went through a flowmaster...no good....A borla (muffler only)....sounded like a honda fart muffler so it had to go but you could feel a difference in power and performance....then i found the walker it was heaven.......I put a lot of money in labor and mufflers trying to get it right...and I did.:D

Just the muffler...:duh: sorry I forgot that borla made a system for the TB...at the time they wanted like $900 for the borla system:weird: ...I did for alot less but the set backs in mufflers and labor screwed me:suicide: ....was still less then the borla though.:D
The borla muffler I put on did give you seat of your pants performance you could feel:crazy: ,only thing it sounded like $hit on the TB.:hissy:

No big gains with the :hail: walker muffler (from what I could tell)it just gave me the look and sound I want.:raspberry

Fred, not to get too far OT but did you have your wheels chromed? That wheel style in chrome looks fantastic! :cool:

:D Yes...i forget who i bought them from.:duh: The place took factory 17 inch wheels and chromed them up.....They did a great job:thumbsup: ....Located in FL. somewhere....The chrome wheels made the TB really stand out.:raspberry

i was gonna say the same thing yesterday but i forgot :duh: !! i wanna do the same but i have the other 17" rims, do you think it'll look cool guys ? :confused:
