i have always heard michelin were pretty good tires-long tread life, good ride.........My wifes 03 envoy has cross terrains with 30K. Yesterday in about 2-3 inches of snow i had to back up to get up a 20% incline about 30 yards long!!!!!!!!!! And yes i was in 4wd. These tires have about 6/32 left on them and have been rotated every 6k. Looking at buying new tires and found these are about $150. Thinking of buying cooper atr or firestone destination le. My thinking is if a tire is only going to "last" 30k miles might as well pay 30k mile price. Anyone have these 2 tires and am I giving michelins bad rap.

I have 40k+ miles on my Bridgestone Dueler REVO AT's and drove in bad winter conditions on last thursday/friday with no problem. I live in the mountains at 8600 feet el. They are worn but still no real issues in snow with 4wd as long as you're not mashing the throttle everywhere you go.

I have the Cross Terrains on my Envoy and have been happy with them. One pair lasted 64K; the other is just shy of 71K and will need replacement soon (but they're still not down to the wear bars yet).

I've driven through some fairly deep snow and haven't had any problems with the new set mounted on the rear. I will say that last winter, when the rears had ~60K on them, I was disappointed in the snow traction but wasn't really surprised since the tires were old. This year with the new ones back there it's like night and day. No problems in snow at all.

As much as I like the CTs, for really rough off-road and/or deep snow you'd probably be happier with something that had a bit more aggresive tread.

My Cross Terrain's are new, and I am extremely happy with their performance under all conditions, especially snow. I bought them with a 65,000 mile warranty. Driving habits have a huge impact on treadwear, especially using 4WD when it's not warranted. My experience with the CT's on snow is that you can pretty much leave the TB in 2WD.

Another vote here for the Bridgestone Dueler Revos. I'm on my second set on my Jimmy and I love them. Very good all around tire, not cheap, but a great tire. The bad thing is, if you have 245/65/17 tires they aren't available in that size

I have 50,000 miles on my Cross Terrains. I think that I will be able to get about 60,000 out of these. Traction even in light snow (1 inch or less) is not great in my opinion. However the dry and wet traction seems fine. Cornering is great for a SUV tire. I haven't had any other tires on this vehicle to compare road noise.

I measured the tread depth on my tires today. All have about 5/32 left-plenty of tread. These tires perform great in all other aspects. Ride is smooth and quiet. Handling and cornering is fine. But the traction in snow is terrible-especially in a wet heavy snow like we get here in mountains of
WV. Will be repacing with Cooper ATR. Thanks for all your replies.
