Anyone know what color the wire is that I need to tap (on the radio harness)in to, when hooking up the remote wire from my amp?

Factory harness? Or aftermarket.

Factory = The pin out is B6 I am also positive on the factory harness, trying for the color now :D Don't you have a probe light?

Aftermarket = Blue normally.

I am searching for the Factory color. I just hooked up my stereo so I should know this. Worse case I will remove mine to figure it out for you. I like using a switch from a direct power source. That way you do not have to have the amp always running, but can still listen to some tunes.

That's a good link, but it doesn't say what you would tap into for the left and right inputs for the amp (ie. what would mimic HU pre-outs). I haven't been able to find this info yet for the 2005 TB.

If your amp has hi-level inputs, just hook up your L/R +- rear wires up to that, if your amp only excepts RCA's, then buy an adapter (I know Crutchfield) has them, that convert your factory rear speaker wires into a low level (RCA) output. The adapter is only $20 or so.

It helps me immensely! :D I just found this site today, & I just registered just a few minutes ago to specifically ask this question.

This is a wonderful, wonderful resource. I hope to be able to give back even a tenth of what I have gleamed already. :)

Thanks guys...I recently bought the pac c2a-gm24 interface so i could add an amp and sub. I've installed an amp in every car i have owned and never had a problem but for some reason the old tb is giving me hell!!! I assumed the wire would be blue...so i tapped it and the amp didn't turn on so....i guess i'll fool w/ it again tomorrow.

Do you have a test light? That is an easy was to spot it, or like I said, use an external switch inline and do it that way, so you have full control. Good luck, what kind of system do you have? I am think of adding a 10" tube to richen the sound.

Well after testing all the wires on the factory harness i still can't find a wire to tap. So I just spliced into the 12v constant and contected the remote wire for the amp. I add a toggle switch to the remote wire so i can kill the amp after i turn the radio off. If anyone knows off a better wire to tap into anywere, please help me out. Now if the darn UPS guy would get here i could finish up!!!

O' yeah- the diagram post on that web site isn't to correct...it mentions certain color wire colors that aren't on the factory harness. But it did help me out some...thanx.

The toggle switch IMO is one of the best ways to hook an amp up. :m2:

That's the way I have mine hooked up, just in case I don't want any bass I just turn it off....

Well fellas, I finally installed the pac c2a-gm24 and it works great. I gotta get some new pics up soon. I ended up removing the toggle switch b/c the interface had to be wired to the remote from the amp. I just installed a bass knob so that i can turn the bass up and down when needed.

The box looks nice, man... too bad it can't be a little more thin; it protrudes into the cargo area too much for what I would need. :)

I can help you with this. I can also send anyone a wiring diagram of almost any vehicle with wiring colors and locations for anytype of radio/security/remote start install.

This is for a 2005 Trailblazer:

Radio 12v = orange + radio harness

Radio Ground = black/white - radio harness

Radio Ignition = (Class 2 Serial Data)

Radio Illumination = N/A

Factory Amp Turn-on = pink + radio harness

Power Antenna = N/A

Notes: The amplifier is in the passenger side rear quarter panel.
LF Speaker +/- tan - gray +,- radio harness or amplifier

RF Speaker +/- lt. green - dk. green +,- radio harness or amplifier

LR Speaker +/- brown - yellow +,- radio harness or amplifier

RR Speaker +/- dk. blue - lt. blue +,- radio harness or amplifier

If you need the complete digram send me your email address and I will send you a PDF file with all of the information.

So, if a guy wanted to add a second amp to power a rear sub, he could just tap into the existing rear amp's left and right channel input feeds, right?

Onsite
06-01-2005, 11:58 PM
That would depend on if your rear sub amp uses high power inputs (speaker inputs) or low level inputs (RCA cables). If using Speaker Inputs then the answer is yes. Me personally if I was adding a rear amp for a sub I would get a line converter so I could run RCA cables for a cleaner signal and less chance of that annoying buzzing sound. Line converters are only around $20 and you just tap into the rear speaker wires and plug your RCA cables into the converter box to your amp.

thanks for the sub info! Also, could you send me the wiring diagram for the speakers, mainly the ones off the BOSE amp in the rear so I know which ones to tap for a line converter to amp feed?

Thanks, Erik

sorry for the xtra response, but have you had any luck installing an aux adapter in a 02 TrailBlazer with the 6cd indah changer as well as the BOSE sound system? If so, please explain what you used and how you did it.

Yes, I meant using a line converter as well. I was just thinking that it would be easier to tap the rear amp feed compared to the rear door speaker feed which some of the local install shops seem to prefer to do.

For an '02-04 TB use the pac c2a-gm24. This is what I used to add my amp to the factory Bose (w/ 6 disk indash). Its plug and play, and allows u to run RCA cables to the amp. Its been working great for me. Very easy install also. I think I paid about $70 for it. I would recommend using it over tapping into rear speakers. I'm not even sure u could tap into the speaker when using Bose.

It can be more thin. You just have to be willing to cut a little.

Using the pac unit is definetly the way to go. If you want to say some money you can just get a line converter but for simplicity the pac unit is an awesome unit. You would actually tap into the rear speaker outputs form the amp, nto the speakers themselves. The wiring diagram is listed above for doing that.

For more information on line converters and other peripheral units out there check out this website:

Yes, this is the company we deal with for OEM Interfaces. Check them out:
http://peripheralelectronics.com/2002/home.asp

They have peripherals that work with BOSE systems as well as adding an auxillary input.

Also, if you need the wiring diagram, send me a PM with your email address and what year you need.

no, im sorry i didnt state my question properly. The 02s are without the BAND button, and dont send a signal to the cd changer port, so I havent been able to get an adapter to work. I know about the PAC module, just looking to save some cash, but good suggestion. I like the sub box, a clean integrated look. :D

Thanks, Erik

PS, if you click the user name, click send email, my address is there. :)

02envoysleguy,

The box only sticks out about 2 inches from the interior panel. It could be slimmer but it all depends on what sub u use. The 10" punch that I used was about 6" deep so I had to add on to the back of the box which sits in the little cargo area on the panel. I'm happy w/ the way it turned out...definitely is a space saver.

Yeah, I hadn't even though of lining it up to recess into the cargo compartment there. Not a bad idea though, I like it

I used that wiring diagram from that web site with no problems. I added a Line level to RCA type converter. The output from the front L & R are used to drive a 8" Bazooka. I used the BCM (I think that's what it is) under the passenger rear seat for power. With the seats up & the cover off of the BCM, the two orange wires to the left (with your back to the back of the front passenger seat) are 12V before the ignition. I have the Bazooka set to come on when it detects sound on its RCA inputs. It's only a 50W (claimed on the packaging) built in amp so I figure the current draw won't be enough to affect the BCM. Oh that big screw with the attached washer makes a good ground.

Well - now you can get accurate wiring diagrams right here! Why go anywhere else? Just go to the main home page and look under resources. Every Year of TBs and Envoys are there for you to use. I have used the software that provided the diagrams for years at our shop and it is the best!!

So, Enjoy them!!
