Hello I have a 2002 Olds Bravada awd with 101,000 miles. I have a vibration and a whine coming from the front end. Sometimes a small pull to the right side doesnt do it all the time but most of the time. Just put new cvs so there good. I was told it could just need the diff and trans fluids changed never been changed when iv owned it bought it with 46,000. Bad i know... Im not sure if its the Diff or the transfer case???? Any ideas Thanks for all the help.

Is the vibration in the steering wheel, or are you getting vibration filtering throughout?

Are you sure it isn't a hub/bearing assembly? Sounds like it might be. If the sound level changes when you turn the wheel slightly left or right, then it is most likely a hub/bearing.

It will be the one opposite the turn. So, if you turn slightly left and it gets louder, then the RF is bad. Turning slightly puts more weight/force on the bearing and amplifies any noise etc.

Typically you can jack up the wheel and spin the tire, and not hear or feel anything. The test is to turn slightly while moving and listen. When you get the bearing out, you will be able to feel the roughness. Not until, unless it is really bad already.

I drove a few thousand miles on mine after it started making noise. It gradually got louder and louder.

Best thing to do is jack it up. Grab the tire on the top and bottom, and try to push on the top and pull on the bottom. If you have movement your hub is going. Mine actually made more noise when I turned to the left, and it was the front left. So like I said, just jack it up and wiggle the tire to see which side it is. If that's really what's going on, you can at least rule that out if they don't move.

Its in the drivetrain u can fill it throughout the car. The only reason i say so is becouse u can be driving down the road put it in neutral and it stops?????? Not sure what to do???

Could it be a RF brake caliper hung up? That could account for the vibration, whine, and the stopping.....just a thought.
