Ive seen a couple intakes... some connect to the throttle body, some connect to the resonator... anyone have any experience which ones are more beneficial?

dont know about which is more beneficial...according to K&N, the kit that i installed is said to give it close to 10 hp...

the resonator just bounces the air around in there, causing more restriction and less sound...

my k&n connects at the throttle body, is only loud under heave load...but that loud is LOUD when really punching it...regular driving, barely noticable...

:iagree: You only hear the roar if you punch the gas. I think that removing the resonator allows the air to move more freely with less resistance so if you decide to get a CAI, make sure you get one that connects to the throttle body

Exactly. I would eliminate the resonator. I ran with a K&N E1009 filter before I installed the CAI, so the only apparent source of restriction is the resonator. Any CAI that re-uses the resonator is for looks only. :iagree:

if you look at an older volant intake it has the resonator off then they put it back on when I got mine was about the time they did this, I called them and I was told that it produced more power with the resonator on. You don't increase you power much it just sounds like you do dont ever beleive what the manufacture claims they all say 10-15 and up to almost 20 which is BS I've been at dyno runs with my buddy and his 98 mustang cobra he has his own shop and was trying out a few different intakes and none of them got close to what they said they were going to get, about half is what was produced

Yeah, well engine HP is different than wheel HP.

yep i understand that wheel hp and engine hp are different, manual and automatics produce different hp at the wheels. the math was done by computer to see hp gains at the motor not at the wheels, at wheels was even lower unless the motor is tuned for more air a bigger increase will not be seen

personally I like the resonator in for looks.

I also like it with my airaid cai. My TB is quite most of the time unless I really punch it to fend off the coyotes.
