I need a supply for my 3 led lights. 2 grill lights and one mini phantom. I read the threads about the battery and wire under the rear seat.

I was thinking of using the hot post for the 12v trailer hookup. I have it hooked up now for when I tow the camper but i figured it is a easy hookup for the lights too. I don't use the trailer much so why waist time hooking to the battery. I also thought of taping into the wire that runs my mini phantom but it plugs into the accessory plug on the dash and I don't know what it can handle.

what you all think.

21 views no opinions? If I didn't explain it correct let me now. I don't always say things right.

So, you need a hot lead for the lights? There is one that I used for my aftermarket head unit instead of buying the expensive wiring harness. It is the big pink wire under the steering column. Only works when the ignition is in the on or "run" position, so you wouldn't need to worry about draining the battery when your truck is off.

Correct, I need a positive for the lights. What else does that pink wire supply power to?

As far as I know, it is only the ignition wire. But I have the aftermarket HU that also has powered subs that I ran A wire from the battery from, and I have not had any issues at all.

pink wire should be ignition only...its fine for running your lights on and great if you forget to turn them off with the car:duh:

That should be fine for a set LED lights... They don't draw much current at all.
