It is what it is. My 4' VHF antenna (RAD4010ARB (Part #) VHF Antenna, 3dB, Roof Top (136-174 MHz))
At home depot, got a bar 2x48x3/16", metal primer, black paint, bolts/washers/epoxy......
Put it all together and what do you get? This!

Bolted to the rails wired down the driver side and grounded down the passenger side to the fender. I kept the shorty antenna on there for general use cuz I don't leave the big one up there in the parking lot.
Better pictures later when I get my actual camera out there. I picked up some stuff from arizona today, or hawaii... Either way the dispatch had no regard for DST...

looks great; nice set up; I use just a basic magnetic base with a 3' (i think) when i travel for my CB. you can see it on the left side of the roof in this pic this pic was from our convoy to our fall foliage meet (I am on the right:D)

haha yeha i know it is not the best but i only use it for road trips and i make sure that i clean the bottom of the magnet and the roof so there is nothing to scratch my roof. range kind of sucks but i don't really need a long range i figure i can probably pick up stuff ~2 miles away

Nice install. So I'm guessing the antenna works well?

Actually, they're both him! We entered a kind of time vortex where, right before our eyes, he split in two! One was him a year before, and one was him at that moment. I tell you, even if we had a video, you still wouldn't believe it! At least we got a pic of it right!

Good idea for mounting it. I just put my new antenna on. 4' Fiberglass whip antenna. Works great and I got the spring, mounting kit and antenna for $23.

That basket looks great and is exactly what I have been looking for. Which size did you go with because it looks just right.
