I am sure that this has been discussed before, but I am about to install a set of 20" ADR wheels with a set of Hankook tires. The ADR website recommends using Meguirars Wheel Glaze Cleaner #36, I personally don't have any experience with this product. I am curious as to what all of you guys that are running aftermarket chrome rims, what are your cleaning products that you use?
Typically now on my vehicles with stock rims, I use a typical wheel cleaner from Autozone, ect, and I use Bleach White on the tires. I was curious if I would still be able to use Bleach White on my new 20" tires with the chrome rims, or if I should use something else.
Also what type of "tools" to you guys use on your wheels tires (i.e. brushers, rags, sponges, etc.)
And what are good polishing products, I have seen that Mothers ball for your drill a lot recently.
Thanks

I just recently bought a spray bottle of Mothers Tire and Rubber Cleaner. I am very satisfied with the results. Cleans the tires well, and removes all the old tire dressings so there is no build up. Especially good if you want to try a new dressing on the tires.

For polish I use PoorBoys pro polish, and PoorBoys wheel sealer.

They work for me. Others will have their own recipes.

well if i were you, i would use like a well know car cleaner company like megulars or armor all etc. and when cleaning the rims, you should use a detailing brush and not a rag because with rags all you are doin is jus smearing the dirt. after you rinse them thats when you dry the with a cloth. if you want them to really shine you can put cleaner wax on them.

Anyone have any pictures of the "tools" that they use to clean their tires and wheels? Just curious to see what everyone is using.

to clean the face of you wheel spray all the heavy debris off the use a soft brush(meguires wheel face brush) which is very soft and non abrassive. i would clean it with the same soap you use on the body(clean wheels first) so that none of the dirt from your truck gets on the brush. If you want to use a spray Eagle1 AtoZ cleans everything off the wheels and tires without touching the surface of the rim. the more you touch the more it will become scratched I've had ton of chrome wheels and no matter what you do they will get scratched, so the less touch them the better

Thanks for the replies on the cleaning tips, I am getting all the info and then I will be purchasing the products so that I am ready when I get the wheels installed. I am planning on making several visits to diffent auto parts stores to see if they carry the products that I need, or if I will need to order them off of the web. Keep the info coming.

The best thing I have found to clean wheels is was them with a sponge and soap let dry and use meguires wheel polish that comes in a small squeez bottle and the actual liquid is blueish in color. Buy yourself a powerball from autozone or Advanced auto or walmart, put some cleaner on the powerball and go at your wheels with that. Once you do the whole wheel take a soft waxing towel and wipe of the dry wheel polish and they will be perfect.

Where do you guys buy your Mothers and Meguirars products at?

Walmart and local auto parts stores have some of the line. You can also buy directly from their websites.

Anyone else have any products that they would like to share that they use on their aftermarket wheels and tires?
I am probably going to buy everything off of the web, I hate having to run between stores. I just need to decide what I want to buy!

I posted this answer on another thread somewhere, but here it goes again. I use to use alot of the Meguires, etc wheel cleaner until recently. A buddy of mine told me to go down to Home Depot and in the janitorial section you will see a product called "Zep". You want to buy the 1 gallon that says "Window cleaner" Don't buy one that says for tinted windows. Anyhow. get a plastic spray bottle and fill about 1in or 1 1/2 of this solution and then rest plain water. Spray on rim and you will be surprised by the results. He mentioned to me that over the counter products are to harsh on chrome and within time you will get the rust thing goin. At least with this water based solution your not spending 15 hrs cleaning rims. I think its a great idea, others might think differently, but at same time your saving money thats well needed in the SS tank, lol.
Also i buy all my car care products from a site called www.allbriteusa.com (http://www.allbriteusa.com), all u have to do is find a local distributor, but these products are best by far.

I just tried out the mothers power ball the other day and with a dab of wheel polish it cleaned up my stock ss wheels NICE! and it was easy. I cleaned them, then took the drill with the powerball and applied a little wheel polish and just went to town. The ball gets into the tight spots and when done just wipe them down with a microfiber towel or something similar. and WHAAA LA! BLING
