View Full Version : 2002 trailblazer front bumper warpage
The top surface of the bumper that is adjacent the lower edge of the front grille is warped (wavy surface). Does anyone know of an effective fix for this problem aside from replacing the bumper itself ?

First off welcome to TBEcentral. Man, that sucks. I can't think of a way to fix that without replacing it. You could try heating it up with a heat gun to see if it will level back out, but it sounds like heat may of warped it. Maybe talk to a good body shop that may knows some tricks.

I too have the wavy front fascia. I don't think I have ever seen a Trailblazer whos front fascia wasn't wavy. I too never really thought about taking it in, just kinda ignore it. Let us know if they can fix it.

I had mine replaced last summer while it was repianted for the stone chips in front of the rear fender. My dealer didnt even raise their eyebrow when i showed it to them, kind of like they had seen it before.

there must have been one for it, and the excessive stone chipping on the bottom of the rear fender by the way the dealership just fixed it without any questions, or even putting up a fight

Just click on "User CP" up on the left near the top of the page... then click on edit profile. You can make that "Junior Member" into anything you want without having to post too much. ;)

I just noticed mine (brand new '05) is doing it too. It's not too bad, but if it gets worse I'm taking it to the dealer.

I took mine to the dealer with a copy of the TSB that Charlie posted and the dealer said that nobody had ever complained about it before so they had to order the parts... it will be fixed though. I hadn't even noticed it until this thread...

I will watch mine till after the Summer and see what it looks like then. I may just epoxy it down with a bead along the top portion of the cover. I hope there is something there to attach it to. It is still under warranty, but I am not a huge fan of other people working on my rides.

Mine has this problem too. But its a used TB that I just bought from a Nissan Dealer about a month ago. It has a 3 month warranty from that dealer, but I doubt they would do anything about that :(

Shay, they re-adhere the bumper cover to the metal underneath it with some industrial strength velcro (3m dual lock) and it corrects the problem pretty well. I had mine done a couple months ago. But they scratched the hell out of my bumper cover putting the grille back on. Grrrrrrrrr...

Man,
I'm glad I checked in here. I noticed that on my wife's 2005 and was wondering if they all came like that! I'll point that out when I take it back to the dealership for a door ding incurred on their lot!
Thanks,
Kevin

My '05 had this problem less than a week after I took it home from the dealer. It was a warranty replacement/repair. My dealer did the repair, which is using a butt-load of 3M Dual-lock velcro (similar to what EZ-Pass uses to stick to your windshield) and believe it or not it works great, mine looks MUCH better now.
If that doesn't work for you or you complain enough to the dealership they will order you a new bumper cover under warranty. The only problem with that is I've heard of people getting new bumper covers which are warped just as bad if not worse than the original ones.
Go with the Dual-lock, it works really well.

Just got the bumper fixed and it looks better. I had to wait a month for the parts before GM could fix it.
