Hi...some newbie questions;
While having a look under my new 05 today, I noticed that the ehaust pipe is a little flattened out, almost to a triangular shape just before it reaches the rear muffler. I'm guessing this is normal for suspension clearance purposes??
I also noticed last night that the fog lights tend to vibrate, and apart from the bumper cover being fairly flexible, the fogs themselves do not seem to be all that tightly fitted. Normal?
Lastly I have the V8, and it does not idle completely smooth (you can feel it when sat at a light)...Is this also normal?
I'm enjoying the vehicle, but inital impressions at 500mi tell me that the overall quality (including paint) is/may not as good as the wife's Mazda MPV.

Congrats on the new Envoy. Did you get a Denali or XL to get the V8? Don't know about the exhaust pipe. Dealer may be able to tighten the fog lights a little. Mine seem ok at 20K miles. Wish I had the V8, but those engines are very tight when new and the rough idle is probably normal. Someone that has the V8 will probably chime in here soon. :m2:

Hi,
I got the XL version as we need the third row seats. The V8 is nice, perhaps not as smooth as the six, but as you say will probably get better as time goes on. It does drink gas though around town!

Taff67,
My fogs jitter around on my '04 Envoy too. I checked around and didn't notice the lights themselves being loose, but the bumper itself has a lot of play in that area. Although the bumpers on these vehicles are known for being loose/misaligned/gapped, it wouldn't hurt to mention it to the dealer.
There was a TSB and a "bumper leveling kit" available to the dealer for the Trailblazers, but I remember some who had this installed complaining that it didn't seem to help much. Not sure if it applied to Envoys.
The gap between my bumper and grill/headlights has gotten wider in the first 12,000 miles since I got it. I plan to have the dealer address it when I take it in at 15,000, and will post what happens then.

As far as the exhaust, mine also has that shape where it is formed around the rear suspension. I have the reg. length body.

And ditto the congrats on the new truck!

Fog light "jitter" is commonplace on all of the vehicles where GM mounts a fog lamp into a plastic bumper valance. I experience the "jitter" on both my "04 T/B & "02 Suburban. From what I know, this is the "nature of the beast" and their are no service bulletins, etc. addressing this concern.

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting that the "warping" or "gapped" bumper issue was causing or necessarily related to the fog light jitter.

However, IF the bumper fix helps to secure the bumper better, it might at least decrease the flex casing the jitter. My bumper is now starting to tilt lower at the wheel well edge than in the front and can be moved around a little too easily for my taste.

I have that same issue; I think I'm going to try to rig up a better supporting brace under there somehow.
