SoCal meet-Aug 9th _San Diego Mission Bay area w/Pics

Since our last meet went so well, lets start to plan our next ;).....summer time is around the corner (not like it's not summer throughout the year for us :p ) but it has been considerably hot lately:crazy:. Well lets get some ideas going...I was thinking a beach meet (so we could build some Dunes and have Roadie showoff :raspberry ) or at another park and yes off course we should have a BBQ going (so I could make my Jerk Chicken for Ryan :laugh: ). Mission Beach is pretty nice, but it may be a little too south for some members, but lets get some input from everyone.

I'm working on a get together at Mission Bay, talking to a friend of mine that works for the Parks/Rec department as far as our trip up North, I don't have anything definite yet, the wife and I were just talking about it a couple of days ago, she just got a new job, so we have to work out the time off. Our first plan was to take a week off and head to San Fran for a day to visit some of my wife's friends and then head up to Portland and check out the town, then finally make it to Seattle, but because of the new job that changed.

It may be a small number of bolts, but the springs are under a couple thousand pounds pressure and it's not trivial to get them off. You might need a shop closer by if you're going to farm out the work.

Sounds like a technical forum issue for planning your lowering project now, not a meet issue. Recommend taking it to the suspension forum, and reading up on a lot of historical threads on choices of shocks. Yes, you only want to go in there once.

it's a toss up between 15, 2 and 7....7 has a dirt and sand area (which Roadie would love :p ) and a bigger parking area...15 is a pretty nice spot and has a small beach area for people and their families to go in the water and 2 is close to a playground for kids and also closer to Belmont park....I'll be going out sometime today or tomorrow to scope everything out ;)

I will say that in the past, we have found a place with grills so we can cook. It generally is a late morning start and wraps up around mid afternoon.

I have heard that homemade eclaires have been known to last in a cooler if properly packaged. I will also say that once they are opened in my presence that they seldom last 5 min.... :D:dielaugh:

Usually in the past we would bring whatever we wanted to bring and just share between everyone. The more grills the better, I know I'll be bringing my propane grill, so I don't have to fuss over lighting the charcoal *cough, cough* :p, and I'll be bringing some fire hot links and jerk chicken. Basically just bring whatever you usually would bring to a picnic...plates, napkins, chips etc. I think if everyone brings one of each, we'll have enough to go around.

Just got back from 10 days in Idaho and a week in Denver. A few days home to buff up and on the road to Ft. Worth Weds. Then a week in San Antonio and another ten in Mexico.

Keep the Roadie on the beach. I hear that sub-surface sand-bogging is rough on the drivetrain.

San Diego City Parks prohibit alcohol. I think all the CA meets have been (mostly) alcohol-free. IIRC, a group of service folks canceled coming to one of them if they couldn't drink. Not sure I missed 'em.

Steve should probably make sure to post all the regulations, to avoid surprises.

Yes Roadie is right no alcohol, but our meets are usually alcohol free, since we bring our families and yes grills are allowed, tents, canopies, refrigerator, pets, etc :p.....there are areas that you can or have to reserve spots, but where we are going, there is no need to, but if we could get some guys/gals out early enough to hold some parking spots that would be great, I'm going to try and get there as early as possible, probably around 9 or 10 and get good area to pitch camp also, it gets packed pretty quick, especially if it's a hot day....also everyone can bring swimsuits or what have you if you plan on getting in the water and if anyone is bringing any PWC's they'll have to go over by area 12

I'll probably be meeting up with teebees on Wednesday to pick our spot for Sunday and I'll post up more details then, but I'm going to try and be at MB by 10am on Sunday, maybe earlier....I would recommend everyone to get there at early as they can, it's the Beach and it gets pretty crowded especially if it's a really nice day. Chili sounds like a great idea! I have a big AC inverter in the Roadiemobile so I can power up a few crock-pots so we don't all get food poisoning. Put me down for home-made baked beans. If you bring your chili in a crock-pot it can share table space with the beans.

Well.... Since none of you ate any of my hotdogs or chips/salsa. Im having it for Dinner while i work on some new mods :D Got plenty to drink to... HAHAHA im just messing.

well it was a fun day up until now as i was making my way back to base tonight i hear a noise then a louder bang and then i realized my 3rd gear blew out so i drove to corona doing 10mph in the breakdown and had to pay twice for the toll got a towtruck in corona and now im back in colton contemplating how im getting back to base tonight

good to see that you're okay, I was worried about you since I saw that you haven't been too active....me and Bill were talking about you too at the meet and wondering what was up.....time to go get yourself a new computer so you don't have any more excuses :p
