My SS kicked ass tonight . I made an unscheduled stop at the track tonight(Raceway Park , NJ ) on my way home from having dinner with my girlfriend . Truck is all-wheel drive , had 3/4 of a tank of fuel , and my 300lb body driving , estimated race weight 5000+lbs  I was close to the track , the air was cold and I had some time to kill so I headed over to the track . It wound up being a good move as I wound up with a new best time of 13.507 at 100.35 with a 1.98 60ft .

The cold air was good for making HP but there was a constant 20+ mph head/cross wind  . Anytime you set a new best it's a good feeling but here's what made the night even more enjoyable , out of all runs made , I only had one car run quicker than me , and I was the quickest/fastest truck out of about 10 other trucks that included a supercharged Ford Lightning (13.51) and a modded Silverado SS , a Dodge Hemi pickup with a custom blower set up (13.9) , and I took out a Mustang and two other rice rockets , I did get beat by a turbo ricer that ran a 13.0 to my 13.50 . The TBSS was drawing a big crowd in the staging lanes for the two hours I was there , the SS definitely earned some respect tonight .My mods are a Vector tune , stock replacement K&N filter(e-1009), Magnaflow muffler , and an I-6 Trailblazer torque converter . I need to get some additional runs in as I definitely haven't found the sweet spot of the converter yet , it feels great on the street , and flashes to 3000rpms , but it didn't pick up the 60ft like I thought it would , I 've spoke to a few members about it and it seems like a 3600 stall may be a better choice .I went with the I-6 converter because it was reasonable( 200.00 ) , and installation was free , I can still tow with it , and it's a GM piece .I may be sending the ecm/tcm back to Vector for some tweaks to the shift points , may have them add some timing down low , and take out some additional torque management which could be caused by the new converter . Overall , It was a great night and I spanked a cammed 6-speed LS1 Camaro on the way home from the track .:D I may try to run the truck again on Tuesday night at another track , hopefully without a head wind , lighter race weight , and a better launch .

Awesome, it sounds like you represented well. It is pretty cool that you can stop there while out with your girlfriend and get some runs in.

SWEEEET!!! :D

And, on the converter, how much can you still safely tow? I want an SS with a tune, CAI, exhaust, and a converter but still need to be able to tow ~5K for 300mi no problems. I would add a tranny cooler through and every fluid would be synthetic.

Great Job!!! A few points though if I may :)

The Converter wont cause any extra torque managment, it will cause an issue with the speedo not reading after a hard launch however. This is something we are working on for a fix to but arent sure it's even anything we can fix :) BTW the stock trucks with converters do this as well lol

Also there really isnt any more spark to be had safely down at the bottom I know you are trying for a harder launch but the stock I-6 converter just does not seem to work that well in these trucks for the amount of labor to put it in. I think a 3200-3600 will be key on these trucks however it will come with a notable loss in drivability for some, others like Mike wont care ;)

I'm sticking with the I-6 verter , it's rated to tow 6000+ pounds and if I ever have any transmission issues , at least the converter is a GM unit and looks stock , I would love to have a 3600 , but my C5 Vette gives me my hard launch fix :D it's gone a best 60ft of 1.36 on drag radials . It would be nice to get the truck in the low 1.9 , high 1.8 area . I'm still at a disadvantage without the use of my left leg , once it heals up , I'll be able to brake stall it more consistent and at a higher rpm .

That is awesome. Definately appears that tuning does wonders. Must really feel fast now. I'm getting really anxious to get the tune and the cold air induction.Waiting for the induction to be released. Kind of sucks that I won't be able to drive it too much. I bought it for her.
