markmc 05-16-2009, 03:27 PM Figured i better post here so as not to get kicked out of, or offend
anyone in the wrong thread..you know who i am refering to..lol..
Here are some pics of a venture that started over one year ago.
When i joined Trailvoy, i was in search of a lift that would allow the
fitment of oversize tires..
No lifts were available, so i compiled ALOT of info and
read every thread i could find regarding lifts.
I joined forces with a very well known lift company that
profited from my experiments..
I asure everyone that i dont consider this some kind of contest
for the tallest TV in the world, cus i would never take that title
away from the one that inspired me in my quest!
To me ,that would be like takeing Supermans cape.
As alot of you already know, i am always available to answer
your questions, i try my best anyway..
if you need a lift kit, i can hook you up!
A many thanks to those who have been an inspirasion
Please forgive my miss spelling, haveing a few Coronas to
celebrate a year of research ..lol..
I will post up pics for your enjoyment,,and you make your own assesment.

MrSmithsTB 05-16-2009, 03:47 PM Amazing. You have put a lot of work into that and it shows. Thank you for helping pave the way:hail:
Do you mind if I move this to offroad or are you trying to hide??

bikingguy1 05-16-2009, 04:06 PM F***ING SWEET MAN:excited::hail:
Holy :x! - Your truck would intimidate a Tahoe or Expedition. Didn't think 35s were even remotely possible.
What all did it take? I see a spacers for a suspension lift, which I know you fabricate. Obviously a chassis lift, since the frame rails sit below the rocker panels....I"m guessing 2.5 + 3-4 for a 5.5"-6.5" lift total? Something tells me there will be quite a few members wanting to know how to make them fit. Awesome job!
MAY03LT 05-16-2009, 04:13 PM im not really into the lifted scene but that is awesome:hail::thumbsup:
it would probably look down on my stock C2500:laugh::cool:

markmc 05-16-2009, 04:40 PM that dont look half bad hows the ball joint angle and all of that?
Hey Steve
remember when we first joined trailvoy?? No Profiles then..lol..
It finaly panned out bro!! Those 35s are on..heehee..
The ball joint angle is the same as its been for the past year or so, no issues!
Since the new shoes are the same width, i still have a fingers distance from
tire to B joint.
BTW::tiphat hats off to you my friend, for the rescue of the gr8 roadie!!
Double D 05-16-2009, 04:47 PM That looks awesome Mark. The work definitely paid off. :D
SteveTB03 05-16-2009, 04:48 PM no kiddin huh the joints the same??? i would think that it would be damn near close to binding especially with some 35's wow thats amazing how does it feel to drive? sluggish?

No Man, the tire/wheel has no influence on the ball joint angle..
Its the suspension set up that will change the angle..
i thought you took my suspension class 101 a year ago..
SteveTB03 05-16-2009, 05:03 PM i could have sworn that when you put bigger tires on it increases ball joint angle a little bit but never mind
How much is tuition for the 101 class i need to take it agian so i can raise my grade up a bit
You are the man Mark, looks incredible!

I may have to charge a cover fee,, to help pay for the tires...:woohoo:
the roadie 05-16-2009, 09:45 PM Just got back from a trail ride to test the new axle, to find this! I can't knock ANYTHING about that design. I'm seriously impressed. Taller gears would make it work on trails, but thinking more about it, what you could use that I could design is a mod to allow the use of the transfer case LO range in 2WD mode for around town. You could get some great launch g-force in 2LO mode! For about 50 feet, that is. Or you could just pull the fuse for the front axle actuator and get the same effect, but the transfer case service light would come on. Think about it!

After buying them tires i cant afford the gas to test MPG.:(
But i know with the 33s we were getting 10-11mpg, so it shouldnt
be to far off from a guess of 10mpg tops..
Maybe 11 if we can ever take it out of 4 low..

the roadie 05-17-2009, 06:39 PM No RPO code sticker at all, or none of the gear ratio codes? Did you buy it new? Still have the window sticker? Otherwise you'll have to run your VIN.
Anyway, I was just going to do the calculation of taking your gear ratio and multiplying it by 0.83 (the ratio of 29" stock to your 35" tires) to get your effective ratio.

i have been under that thing with a flashlight for the last ten minutes..
and i cant find the numbers anywhere!!

does that help????
the roadie 05-17-2009, 07:07 PM That's actually the worst of all possible choices for putting 35's on, but as a demo vehicle, no problem.
Your real effective gear ratio is 2.84.
If I did that for trail riding, it would definitely need an extra couple thousand $$ to go to 4.56 gears like AlekG, which would be an effective 3.78.
