I am under 25, so I am getting ripped off, even though I have a clean record, and hold a commercial license. (About $1000 for 6 months)

Whats your payment put you out each month?

Gosh!! I'm 29, no accidents, good record, multiple car discount, 1 full coverage and 1 just liability (it's a 1978 and don't qualify for full coverage :( ) and I pay $666 for 6 months.

Jman423

The sad part is that I am loaded with discounts:

Long Term, Multi-car, Alarm, Safe Driver, State Employee, ABS, AirBags, Anti-Lock Brakes, Accident Free... And I still pay $1000 for full coverage for 6 months with $500 deductibles.

I hope tb ky doesn't lose his good student discount until after he's 25 because that will cost him big time.

Has anyone ever had their insurance company replace their windsheild? I am wondering if the claim affects your insurance premium. I know it is law here in Florida that the insurance company has to replace the windsheild with no cost to the insured, but would that claim hike my rate. As I'm sure you see above, I am already getting ripped off (IMO). My TB needs a new windsheid badly.... Thanks in advance for the help!! :D

Well let's just say I'm about to find out myself... I've got a few really bad chips in mine that are causing light to reflect right in my eyes if I'm directly in the sun. Here in MI we have a glass deductible separate from other claims; I think mine is $50 or so.

I've replaced a few windshields on prior vehicles with no affect on premiums. But that was prior to 911, so some companies may have changed their policies since. :m2:

I pay $329.00 a month with Progressive and that is for $300,000, $100,000 full coverage with $500.00 deductable ... this covers TB, Lexus, and Chevy S-10 ... As for the raise in premium for winshield replacement, they are not allowed to raise premium in Fl. (by Law) and must do it at no cost to you as far as deductible ... to set your mind at ease call and ask your agent or the insurance commission ...

I just turned 34 and just got married. I get a good driver discount, persistency discount, multiple policy discount and marriage discount. Full coverage and high limits (cuz I live in a high litigation state) with a 500 deductible and I pay about 1,300 a year through Mercury. I also have my nav system and 20s on the policy. For the younger guys, the older guys have all been there and done that. Hey, I wouldn't mind staying 25 forever......

I'm 28 and have one stop light violation which will come off my record in December. I pay ~ $1261 per year for 100k/300k liability coverage policy. I've had a few claims when I was with my old insurance company but they gave me accident forgiveness for those (I think).

I actually wanted to ask you guys who might know more about insurance here about that. I have the 100/300 package with my insurance company but was told I may be over-insured? I don't own a home or anything. I originally had 25/50 and upped it. But then I heard I might only need like 50/100 or something?

If I were you I'd carry it, but I'm not. However, I've carried that coverage since I was 18. Insurance exists to indemnify you or make you remain whole. You aren't supposed to benefit from it. In fact, you might never use it all. God forbid you need it, it's there. I'd rather be overprepared than under. :m2:

HA, who would have thought!! A 15 minute call to Geico really did just save me $70 a month!!! Now I am kicking myself in the ass for not doing this much sooner, if I had, I would have had enough for a Wester's Tune!! :duh:

Anyway, my new rate is now $600 for six months, which is pretty decent for a 23 year old single male with a 2003 Trailblazer LT. Give it a try, it can't hurt, the Lizard won't steer you wrong!! :rotfl:

$2200 a year 32 single male.
Now, that is for not only the 03TB but for a 05 1050cc sport bike(at least for the insurace company) and the rates are for Germany. The actual insurance for the bike is like 60% of that cost.

Insurance company USAA
neat thing about USAA's policy, if an accident was cause by a projectile or animal strike no points are assessed against your insurance. I had to learn this the hard way when I got a bug up inside my helmet and road my bike right through a corner. Totaled the brand new bike, and the insurance company didn't raise my rates. Sometimes it pays to read that 50 page policy.

2002 TrailBlazer LS
26yoa w/Full Coverage, $500 deductible
$792/6mos or $1584/yr. Basically about $132/mo
Insurance Co is USAA

I've a somewhat (?) clean driving record...speeding ticket in 1997, accident in 1998 (not my fault), one in 1999 (oops, my fault  ). Then in 2002 slid through a stoplight on an icy road back home in PA and some old lady hit me...they faulted me  ...then I got the TB in Feb '03 only to have a rogue treestump on a muddy dirt road jump out in front of me and do $9K damage to it. :duh: Supposedly next year the one in 2002 drops off...maybe the premium will actually drop for once :rotfl: . Insurance was $200 cheaper every 6 mos back home in PA

The Trailblazer is insured as my primary vehicle. It is right about $500/6 months with Allstate. I'm 28 with multiple policy discount for Homeowners and Corvette, and defensive driving class discount. Moving farther out in the suburbs and having a garage to park in lowered it a lot.

I actually called my agent and the 169 is for the next two months only. For my 02 CRV I was paying 1281/yr and the Voy is going to be 1400 so I have to make up the difference until the end of my term which is two more months. I still think it is pretty steep so I might just see if Geico does sell in Canada.

Do you rather get in an accident with the Vibe or the SS? That is the difference. I think they consider the Vibe Sporty while the SS is considered an SUV. They base it on the name Trailblazer not the SS portion.

A tad bit over 800 and thats because its under my dad's name, if not i would be looking at 1600 or more just because i'm 18 with a clean record and a good student discount.

I hope that's not per month. If so, that's insanity; go get another car to lower your insurance and put some money away. I've never paid more than $150/mo my entire life and I'm only 26.

I am with progressive. Although I have never had to file a claim, I have never had a problem with their customer service. I have a friend that worked for them for a few years and she recommends them still. They are no longer classified as high risk insurance.

We had progressive before USAA and had a great experience. I even had a claim through them when I hit a deer and it was handled wonderfully. We'd probably still be with them if USAA wasn't so much cheaper for us.

I also use progressive and have for 10 years, 2 totalled cars, 1 stolen car, and an undisclosed number of so called "Traffic Infractions" and they have always been great to deal with. They are fast inexpensive and i would highly recommend them.

I go through Geico. I was with USAA, but Geico I pay $75 a month here in NJ, which by the way has the higherst insurance cost in the States. I was paying $130 with USAA. USAA had great customer service, not sure with Geico since I've only been with them about a month. "I just wanted you all to know I saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico!"...lol

$822 per month with max coverage through State Farm and $500 deductible I believe. Coverage is on a '02 TB LTZ, no tickets/accidents on record (had some in the past) and I'm 32 yrs old. I live in the Seattle area so it can be a little pricey here.

HOLY CRAP!

Geico, $3000 every 6 months, full coverage, $500 deductible, with Lein Holder...:duh:...gotta love NJ...

I'm 25, 1 accident coming off in Aug, 1 Following Too Closely(2 pts), and 1 Failure to Observe Signal(5 pts)...both tickets within last year...thats what is killing me...gotta stay clean until they come off then i'll be paying next to nothing...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The Ford F-series pick-up, which consistently ranks as America's most popular vehicle, is also the most expensive to insure among the top 20, according to a report released today by the insurance website Insure.com.

The Chrysler Town & Country minivan is the least expensive to insure of the 20 most popular vehicles, while its corporate twin, the Dodge Caravan, is the third least expensive. The Chevrolet Cobalt small car is the second least expensive to insure, according to the report.

Any individual's actual car insurance premiums can vary greatly depending on factors such as their age, driving record and where they live. But the vehicle itself is a major factor that insurance companies consider to determine premiums.

Insurance is the third largest cost of owning a new car, after depreciation and fuel, according to Insure.com. Insurance premium costs, now averaging almost $900 per year, have risen 27 percent since 2000, according to the report.

Insure.com looked only at the 20 top-selling vehicles in the United States.

In order to rank the vehicles by their relative costs to insure, Insure.com compared rates provided by the website Esurance.com for a 45-year-old single male with no traffic violations who drives less than three miles to work. The amounts of coverage were also the same for each vehicle. Premiums for three different cities, one on the East Coast, one on the West Coast and one in the Midwest, were averaged for each vehicle.

Factors such as popularity with car thieves, how much the vehicle costs to repair after a crash and the amount of damage it does to another vehicle in a crash can influence a vehicles cost to insure, said Loretta Worters, vice president of the Insurance Information Institute.

Options, such as a bigger engine or a high-performance trim level, can make one vehicle cost more than another even if they are the same make and model, said Worters. For example, a Honda Civic Si, the high-performance version of that car, might cost more to insure than the Honda Civic Hybrid.

Some vehicles are also more prone to having parts stolen, such as headlights or spoilers, Worters said.

Before deciding on a car to purchase, Worters recommends that shoppers contact their insurance agent with a list of the vehicles being considered.

Hate to break the news to the SS owners, but ISO (Insurance Services Office) has figured out that the SS is a performance vehicle. The latest VIN-Master info (06-6) now bumps the rating symbol for the SS models compared to the non-SS short wheel base models, so expect an increase on your renewals as companies begin to incorporate the changes into their rates. (This would be for Comp & Collision coverages). Looks like they may also be bumping the 5.3L short wheel base units as well.

If that isn't enough, although ISO doesn't specifically endorse the performance modifiers many companies do and they're now showing the SS with an '(h)' designation as high-performance (power to weight ratio), which could mean even higher premiums with some companies. (The High-Performance designation usually bumps premiums around 30% over Standard).

Guess it was just a matter of time before they caught on.

That's nuts for Orlando prices. I never paid that much when I lived there. When I was in college and even high school there I wasn't paying more than $500 every 6 months with State Farm for full coverage. Of course, the Envoy is my most expensive car to insure now and I didn't have it in Orlando. My 06 Envoy Denali is $600 every 6 months, my 01 F150 Supercrew King Ranch is $500, and my 05 Nissan Murano is $500. Of course I get all the discounts I can including multi-line, multi-car, accident free, and I am married and 28 years old. This is in Grand Rapids, MI, which using my old policies as comparisons, is more expensive than Orlando was due to the medical coverage requirements here.

Here in San Diego county, I pay 855.90 for 6 months with Geico for full coverage on 3 vehicles - my 2005 TB EXT, a 2005 Camry, and a 1995 Ford Aerostar. I'll be dropping the full coverage on the Aerostar. Should have done it a couple of years ago. My wife and I haven't had an accident in 25+ years, last ticket was about 20 years ago.

Most of the insurance companies I've ever been with (at least here in Ca.) renew the policy for 6 months at a time, not a year. Geico replaced the windshield on the van about 4 years ago and did not raise my rates.

It works out to 337.10 for the TB, 338.90 for the Camry, 179.90 for the Aerostar. That's with a 500.00 deductible.

I just received my renewal notice today. My 6 month premium actually wend down $40. I'm now paying less than I was on my Envoy. Guess State Farm doesn't know about this "ISO" group. :D

I have a 1995 Celica GT and the TB and I pay $1,416 a year that includes renters insurance, jewery insurance and property damage. The Celica is 3/4 of that because it is a "sports car" and the rest is split among the rest. AND I have $50 deductibles on everything. Gotta love USAA.

I pay $106.50 per month ($639 for 6 mos, $1278 per year) for my 04 Rainier and my wifes 99 Stratus ES. This is $500 deductible and a large $500,000 bodily injury / $100,000 property policy through AAA.

I used to pay higher premiums (over $750 for 6 mos) for much less coverage $100,000/$30,000. I've shopped around heavily and have switched several times in the past few years. I'm 32, my wife is 30. Records are clean since all tickets are now over 5 years and no accidents. Turning 30, being married, high credit scores, and driving low miles have really helped us reduce our rates.

My best luck has been with AAA and Progressive. Quotes from some others can be nearly twice as much. Amica gave me a low teaser rate for a year and then jacked the heck out of me.

Shop around, rates vary greatly!

My policy just renewed. $360 for 6 months. 22. 3 or 4 strikes, not sure which ones, I know there's a suspension and an accident, but I'm not sure what the third one is, I'm 99.9% it's a speeding ticket (or 3). I believe it's only rated for work (under 10 miles/day, but I do 60+ miles). I can't tell you exactly how many strikes, but I know if I had 1 more they wouldn't write us. So I have enough.

We have an '02 liberty on there too, but I don't know what she pays for that, but it's even cheaper than mine and her record is ridiculously clean.

I am unmarried, but this insurance company allows for a "Domestic partnership" (Which allows gay people and people living together get the married rate:D)

The company is The Hartford www.thehartford.com, thankfully I haven't had to make a claim, but my Girlfriend is our agent and she uses them for lots and lots of people and hasn't received any complaints from them. We have our life, home and auto through them so we get those discounts too.

Everyone should take the time to call around for different quotes. It is amazing how different (by hundreds of dollars) they can be. I started with State Farm and was paying $986.00 for 6 months, one vehicle full coverage, $500 deductible, the other just liability. When when my son started driving at 18, I started to call around. I am now with Liberty Mutual. I have two trailblazers with full coverage, another vehicle just liability and a 19 year old driver and pay $1422 for 6 months. I don't think that too bad of a deal.

It was a pain in the ass calling around but the savings made it worth while. Thats more $ in my pocket for other things.

28 here, in Wisconsin...I pay $580 every 6 months with about $10/mo. being for renters insurance. Not a bad deal. I work for an insurance company...just started in April and compared them...about the same minus rental insurance.

Keep in mind, almost every insurance company will rate younger drivers...at least before 25 as a higher risk and capitalize on that. Not necessarily my belief but I am not in charge of setting premiums. Also...the talk about one accident or claim raising your rates...may or may not be true...depends on the company and the rates "model" it's hard to explain.

Now...my advice after reading this board and just experience. If you buy a new or newer used TB or anything else...get GAP insurance. The insurance company gets blasted by everyone if the insured doesn't have GAP and the vehicle is worth less than the insurance company thinks...well think about it. People work at the insurance company and we are also trying to make money as a company...our goal is to pay claims according to the policy...yet not overpay. So I understand how upset people get when they get in an accident when they just got the vehicle or shortly thereafter...but we have an obligation to pay...but not overpay...it's almost like gambling. I know some of you may blast me here but this is reality. Most if not all companies will take care of you but we all watch what we have to pay because like any business if you pay out more than you bring in, you won't last long.

I also would recommend reading your policy about your deductible, etc. Make sure you are comfortable paying that amount and think about rental coverage...usually not that much more each month and in most cases its not included in your coverage unless you add it. Not always the most obvious thing but can be costly if your repairs take some time or the estimate takes a day or two.

I hope I don't get flamed too much for this...I took the job recently because it was a good opportunity to learn something new...and I feel bad when I see people we have to deny coverage or tell them they don't have this or that...but seriously, I think most companies are not out to screw anyone over. We are there to protect you but also have to watch out so we don't overpay...or you won't have an insurance company too long.

Hope that long ramble makes sense.

Keep in mind that you're under 25.......4x4 costs more than 2WD, location makes a big difference, as well as social status. I actually get a discount for multiple drivers and vehicles also!! Kind of hard to believe that I pay less for insurance for both me and my girlfriend to be insured on the same vehicle!!

I'm 21, had a moving violation and speeding ticket when I was 16, its all cleared up now, but I'm still at 725/6mo, full coverage 1k deductable wil Allstate, they were actually the cheapest around.

Where you live has a lot to do with it. We are in NC now and pay $618.00/6 months, moved here from Las Vegas, NV and the cost was over $1400.00/6 months, same company.
