Had the local Garage change the gear fluid front and rear.
I brough them 4 bottles of Mobil 1 75w-90. He said the front only took one bottle and the rear took two. I know that rear should take two. How many should the front take?
Thanks

In the 2002 Owner's Manual, page 6-63, is the factory's (wrong) answer of 2.6 pints. They translated incorrectly from 0.8L. Typically you use just under a quart, but the true level is to fill it to the bottom of the fill opening. Not just stop at a particular quantity.
GM didn't fix this error until the 2004 manual, when it started printing the correct 1.7 pints. (Just under a quart)
Have you also had the transfer case done? It's due every 50K, which is more often than the diffs.

Im sure that they filled it to capacity at the garage being that they probably pocketed your nice mobil one fluid and filled your diffs with cheap store brand fluid, how could you let someone else go wrenching on your baby?!?!? its just wrong lol. Def do the transfer case though, HAVE TO use the auto trac 2 stuff from dealer, should take about 2 quarts according to manual, mine took about 1.5 to get to the fill hole....although somehow more than 2 quarts seem to shoot out when I changed it. :undecided

Thank Guys. I do trust these guys but I wasn't sure how much the front should have taken. By the way the Mobil1 seems to work just fine. The dealer wanted 35$ a quart so compare 30$ for mobil one to 105 for the blueberry juice.
